Good article. It's really just a case of oversupply now. In house does not mean better, in fact a lot of the time it just means far more expensive and a lot harder to service and repair. For normal everyday wear watches ETA movements can't be bettered. They are reliable and are easy to service.

There's an article at Hodinkee about Atelier de Chronométrie, which the author described as making, "some of the most interesting watches I saw at this year's SalonQP".

It looks like the watches use refinished and upgraded vintage Omega movements, which are then chronometer certified by the observatory of Besançon in France.

I like the concept, but whether I'd want to drop €36,000 on one is a different matter.

It would not be a wise move!

According to Spiegel Online someone bought a Patek Philippe watch for $ 11.000.000,00 in a Swiss auction this weekend. This is madness (can't use proper emoticans at work but just imagine one going AAAARRRGGGHHHHHH)

@Tempvs , do you have an alibi for that timeframe? 😉

I got to see the blue boutique edition Memovox whilst in London last week. It's really nice, and I should try to figure out how to afford one. 😃

Lange have started to offer a budget model, the Saxonia Thin. It's really simple: two hands, manually wound, no lume, and wrapped up in a 37 mm gold case. It's a stunning piece.

This is the Saxonia with the limited edition brown dial for Harrods. I only took a look at it because the nice girl in the concierge offered to show it to me. It's an automatic, rather than manual wind, and in a 39 mm case. I prefer it's little brother.

                      Do you mean "budget"?

A watch that costs approximately the same as my last car?

It looks nice, and, being a quartz, will be far more accurate than most of the fancy models in this thread. 😛
