yeah i did have a look online on the street triple 660 LAMS. i was actually thinking of the LAMS version of the 659 monster. but i'll probably have to wait around next year before i've enough to get it. (provided i put my car project on hold) second hand market for that range about 7-9k. or my other option would be getting a ninja 250 (around 1.8-2k) for now as a weekend bike, which i could get by the end of the year… considering 1year from now i'll be taking my full license and i see my end target as a s1000rr..

The KTM RC390 might be another consideration. They're selling for $5K to $6K new, I think that a new model is coming.

Longer term, the super nakeds such as the Aprilia Tuono, BMW S1000R, KTM Super Duke, and Yamaha MT10 could be alternatives to the S1000RR. I think that part of it is down to the perceived risk of an accident, but also that the plastics on a sports bike are easily damaged, and expensive to replace.

The seating position will be easier for longer rides too.

Plus I think that a few people said that the S1000R was actually quicker on the road because of having more torque through the rev range.

fair point if you think about the hunch position on supersports. i'm not too sure about the power outputs of bikes as compared to modding cars as i have to wrap my head around the less power numbers and weight as well. have to start learning about how these bike mods work as well, it'll be different but hopefully not that different. though shouldn't the rr and the r be somewhat similiar except for the seating positions and maybe a different map on the engine. at least there's still a year ahead at least for me to ponder on those bikes. hayabusa maybe.. i'll never forget the first time i sat on a bike.

but looks like i'm currently leaning towards the 250r ninja just for now..

250R Ninja would be a great intro to the sports bike world imo

@louisbosco most bikes over 600cc or so will do 0 - 60 mph (or 0 - 100 km/h) in three to four seconds. There's not a lot of difference between them, the sports bikes are quicker further up the speed range.

You'll probably find cars slow after recalibrating your brain. 🙂

I'm still kind of in mourning.  After twelve years and 232k miles, my beloved Sentra, crappy generic econobox though it was, has died.  I had planned to keep it another year and retire it when it hit a quarter million miles, but the engine seized and now it's gone.

I'm going to have to buy something a little bigger, so the kids have some room in the back seat, but I haven't put any serious thought into it.  I've have good experiences with Nissans over the years, so maybe a Maxima?  My feelings for cars are about the same as my feelings for microwave ovens and I'd rather have teeth pulled than go car shopping, so there's no excitement in this at all for me.

I feel the same about car shopping. You can't get more boring and generic than honda. We've a CRV with well over 125k and all I've done is change the fluids and brake pads. Has a timing chain so that issue didn't arise at 80 or 100k. Great in the snow though if you get more than a foot it starts to be a problem because of relatively low clearance. Good room in the back seat unless you're over 6ft.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them…
                                Well, I have others.

I just snagged a 2016 maxima. Hit me up if you have any questions.

I drove about 25 cars and "barrowed" 5 before deciding on the maxima. I chose it over the other full size sedans in similar price range.  Perfect blend of space, aggressive style, fuel efficiency and cheap Insurance haha

I have a Mazda CX5, it's surprisingly spacious (I can fit both dogs in the back seat without them touching each other). Gas mileage isn't bad, and I like having all wheel drive. They have a good reputation for reliability.

I'm not much into cars at all, so I just needed a point a to point b car.
