Now would you experts say that this denim is tougher to break in and wear than the UHR?

I have the 666's in XHS, with about 60 days wear (no washes/soaks) on them and Busters in UHR which are new with a weeks wear. They have been vigourously washed though, to remove shrinkage.

For me they are two totally different beasts. I found the UHR much easier to get on with during the first week whereas the XHS was, erm, quite challenging. However the XHS are softening nicely now and my understanding is that the UHR stay quite crunchy. I love both fabrics but they really are very different.

Ok! Thanks for the quick response. Might bite the bullet anyway if I have the funds.

                      2 very minor questions:

                      1. Are the back pockets lined on this model? I guess they're not, as the fabric's already very heavy as it is.

                      2. Does this model have the selvedge fly construction detail?

                      Thanks  😉

Checked my 301S and so it is, Giles, you were right. 301S (size 36) are about 38.5 (worn about three times). Inseam is 8.1 and FR/RR 10.8/14.6.

What size would you recommend? I prefer as slim as possible. It seems 38 is about right with stretch.

I'm going to suggest a tag W36 as long as you can manage the thigh. See if IHUK can find you a pair around 37". My first IH were 301s W36 and they ended up at 39" with a 13.5" thigh. The XHS is hard work and takes longer to stretch but it is worth it.

Tricky…..the 38 is already at 38.5, I think they'll stretch to more than 38.5.  Do you want @Winchy  to look for a small tag size 38, or perhaps even a large tagsize 36?

Depends how much they'll stretch? basically I'd prefer larger tagsize 36 because of the smaller inseam and if they stretch to about 38.5 that would be perfect.

After 8 wears the 301s 21oz will already have stretched some. Mine went from 37" on day one to 39" after a few weeks. Getting two inches from the 25oz is a much to ask but some claim it's doable. My 666-xhs have stretched a little over an inch after 60 wears. It's hard work, but worth it.

I agree that a big pair of W36 will be best if IHUK can find you a pair.

Giles can answer better than I, and you never know until you ask, but the site measurements are an aggregate of all the pairs they have. So a 37" pair wouldn't be strange if 36.5" is the average. An inch and a half stretch is do-able. You probably already have, but check the thigh measurements too. That's always the deal-breaker for me. Also read the other XHS threads for loads more info on how the denim behaves.

At the end of the day, the crew at IHUK are unbelievable when it comes to service so email them precisely what you want and they will do their best to hook you up. Good luck!
