$330 bucks is a bit rich for my blood. Would really take some kind of event for me to buy that!

      Here's what I drank tonight.
First up was Adelbert's Barrel Aged Trifecta 2016 edition. A blend of three of their beers: gin barrel aged saison, another barrel fermented saison and a spontaneously fermented barrel aged wit. I'd love to find a bottle of this…

Then after I got home I decided to open one of the Wicked Weed / Jester King Parking Lots. Great beer, slightly funky and somewhat sour. I might be going out to the brewery again tomorrow to get some more of these!

            Recent ones from me too.
Jester King and Green Bench Brewing Beachtimez Sportzketball.
Grisette inspired farmhouse ale refermented with loquats. Ideal summer beer for me.

            Live Oak Big Bark.
Always good, had to try out the canned version. Hoping Live Oak continues to can more of their beers.

            Goose Island Juliette.
Really impressed with this, tart and sour without being too sweet. I'll have to try the other variants.

I think the Juliet was around 18-20 dollars, but I took advantage of the Central Market beer week and got it last night along with a sixer of Big Bark. Came out to 27 dollars in total!

This was so hilariously bad. Everything that's wrong with a lot of newer  ipa/dipa. Over hopped, dry hopped, wet hopped, and 1293 different types of hop does not make for a "hop explosion" it makes for a nasty hop smell in your sink after you ditch the stuff for tasting shite.

A better IPA. Solid offering from a new Norwegian brewery. I'd buy it again.

I've been off IPA's for a while but some decent ones from Garage Project turned me on to the hops again.

Seriously tempting fate with the 3rd one but whaddya know, it's the winner. Neither crisp, nor dry; but dirty, sweet, resinous and citrusy. Different in a good way.

So turns out that this was absolutely delicious.
The vanilla and coconut were very subdued, and it just makes sense with the strawberries.
                            Might grab another bottle.

Two quite unique IPAs. The ReDANKulous is…well...dank. Musky citrus with a bit of malt. The Tasmanian is far more bright. Citrus and slightly floral.. quite crisp

Hope that Redankulous makes it out to Norway some day. We get some Founders stuff, but I get the impression it's standard fare.

For some reason I buy this stuff about every other month. Each time I crack a bottle I expect it to be awesome and each time it's just OK. Am a just spoiled? I know beer nerds who rave about everything that comes out of this Abbey but for me, while it's never bad it's never great either…

There you go. I'm not one to be snobbish or elitist, and I'm all for the uncritical, naive enjoyment of things, but I thought the Xmas beer was vaguely disappointing. I suspect I need to turn my expectations down from "11".
