I am in love with my Sony RX100 III - I bought it to replace the Ricoh GR.  For me it has loads of advantages over the Ricoh.  I bought the III not the IV as I did not need the extra bells and whistles that the IV gives….

I love the Fujichrome Provia 100F. My every day film is the Fuji Superia Premium 400. The Fuji Natura 1600 is a pretty mind blowing film I've stocked up on, but not much use of/for/from it daily..

@harleydave that X100T is a really cool camera!
@dylantbmayes I use Kodak Portra 400 almost exclusively, amazing color and really shines with portraits and capturing skin tones.

Got the Canon EOS X Mark II right when it came out with free accessories and this camera is a great step up from my 1D Mark IV. I use this camera exclusively for action photos/sport events. I have to remember that it is a full frame camera unlike the 1.3x crop ratio of the MK IV.

It is slightly faster in focus, battery is a good bit better, build quality is always top notch, starting to like the new CFast card slot…but need to buy another one or two if I ever have to write to two cards with the camera as I have tons of micro sd cards from all my other Canons. Oh and the shutter speed is amazing. It is a good bit faster than the MKIV even at just 500 shutter.

                      Thanks for the film recommendations!

@Snowy, how did you go about travelling to Japan (anywhere) with film?

FILM IS everywhere mate. I found it mostly more expensive than buying from the US tho.

Fuji Natura 1600 was the only film I bought over there, and I bought LOTS of it :).

Rest I got from B&H shipped to AU and took w/ me.

Not buying film, travelling with it. You took film from Australia to Japan, yeah?

I know that you should have it in your carry-on and not check-in just wanted to know if there is anything else worth knowing.

if possible get them hand checked and not through x-ray scanner. though the only airport that did it for me was HK.

I have heard that! Adelaide Airport security don't come across as the most accommodating though.

                              Thanks @louisbosco!

Ah it's all fine except for 1600. Modern xray machines are fine. If you've got ISO1600 or greater hand scanning's never been a problem. The 100 & 400 ISO stuff I let get xrayed on carry on and even when it's gone through 4-5x no issues. ISO1600 and above is the only time to worry about the xray for hand luggage.

I spoke to my brother about it, he travels often for work and shoots mainly Ilford Delta 3200, and he has never had a roll go bad…

There is probably always a chance but it hasn't happened yet.

Mrs Snowy did a control test on our last trip. She took 1 roll of 1600 through the xray scanner 5x and all other rolls were hand processed. The xray scanned photos looked horrible, you could see the xray passing over the film. It looked a bit like waves of light leaks where some bits were stronger, others weaker.

Each pass through a machine makes it worse. For 1600 and above ask for hand processing :).

                                    Here's a qantas posting/article I found after my last trip;
                                    http://www.qantas.com./travel/airlines/travel-security/global/en

So QF even suggested it. If you get lip, just point them to this webpage if flying w/ Qantas and it goes very smoothly.

Brisbane International declined to hand check my film and camera… instead they ran it through the x-ray twice.
