Excuse the question, but is no one into choppers? Hardtail, Sportster tank, springer fender, K&Q seat, sissy bar. Choppers.

I can appreciate choppers and Harley's, but I prefer the functionality of more modern bikes.  I commute by MC 9 months out of the year.  Maybe a second project bike in the future.

The only type of choppers I like are the ones Indian Larry made. USABLE choppers. I hate raked out choppers.

Pinion, makers of The Iron Heart watch asked me if I could pull a string or two and get them a bike on the cheap.

I did and this is what they did with it.

            Want….

But someone should tell Piers that the new Bell Bullitt in candy blue would sit much better with the bike than the sparkle finish of his current lid. 🙂

That Pinion bike is a beaut!  Perfect mix of vintage look and modern bits.  The seat is a work of art IMO.  Maybe it is the photo, but the headlight doesn't look real.  I don't think I've seen one like that before.

I quite like the Pinion, but for me the LED rear light is horrible and it needs a tail tidy straight away.

I saw the new Sportster Roadster today.

It's a good looking machine. Harley have got around to fitting upside-down forks and dual brake discs too. The seat height is up a few inches compared to some of the other Sportsters, because the shocks at the rear are taller. Should give it more lean angle.

Being of a leggy persuasion, I don't get on with Sportsters, but fans of the model should definitely check it out.

I think that it's a US bike. The Street 500 and 750 are the Indian made in India models.

Just signed up for driving school and I am already annoyed because I have to wear shitty but safe bike-gear, hopefully some of my riding friends can borrow me some stuff.

Wearing a borrowed set of garish textiles isn't the end of the world. No one will recognise you with a full-face helmet on. 😉

If you're looking at getting a bike soon, then maybe it's worth about investing in some gear. Rev'it does the Urban range, Rokker do high-end biker denim, and some of the Icon 1000 collection is Mad Max influenced. Knox do an armour and jacket layering system as their Studio Collection, which looks a good idea.

Urban Rider and The Café Racer both stock less technical looking gear. But you might want to cross-check prices against somewhere like FC Moto or Louis to see whether it's cheaper in Germany.

In light of Piers's lovely bike, there's a piece over at Cycleworld about it's bigger brother, the XSR900, that argues the XSR700 makes more sense.

The basic gist is that the XSR900 is too powerful for a naked bike, whereas the XSR700 is lighter and more flickable. That's not to say the bigger bike is bad, the accompanying review is positive.

The journalist, Sean MacDonald, was dropped from Lanesplitter a few weeks back, and has now tipped up at Cycleworld. I enjoy his articles, and he's worth following.

@JCMx800 if you need a tasteful jacket for your lessons, might I suggest the Dainese Gong Yun! :o

Actually, Dainese are doing a few interesting designs. The York is rather different to most leathers. I don't know how the buttons would hold up in an off, but I suspect it'll look great with a lot of abuse.

                                          Yes. Isn't that obvious?

Yeah, but I don't like springers with fenders and rather walk than be seen on a bike with a sissy bar or king and queen seat. There's more stuff that's been popularized the last few years but I dislike lots of bikes so I digress.
