DOUBLE DUCK 634 WORLD TOUR

Ok - was a little busy last weekend with getting the cat to Berlin, but now we are ready to begin.

Heading out Amsterdam/Glasgow right now.
Will arrive late in Glasgow and take a rental car out to Tarbert - as close as possible to next morning's ferry over to Islay.

Ok, here we go…

Hit Glasgow late at night and made to our first stop/hotel after midnight.

Had to get up at the crack of dawn in order to get the first ferry over to Islay.

The passage was easy.

Hit Port Ellen in the early hours.

Early enough for quick pit-stop at Laphroaig…

Now, the reason we came to Islay was the Fèis Ìle - The Islay Whisky Festival.
Our first proper stop was a warehouse session with Lagavulin's warehouse manager Ian McArthur…

Since it was just around the corner we did stopped at Ardbeg.

We had an excellent lunch on-site, but intended to come back the next day for Ardbeg Day.

At that point it was early afternoon and time for the second session of the day: Bunnahabhain's Manager's Drams with Distillery Manager, Andrew Brown & Senior Blender, Kirstie McCallum.

After that, we were pretty much done for that day…

The next day started much slower…

But since it was Ardbeg Day the sun came out early and I had to put on the tour jeans!

Made it over to Ardbeg in time for the grand opening.

For the rest of the day we headed over to Kildalton Cross…

Our afternoon ferry took off from Port Askaig, where we had to deal with that coffee problem again…

The ferry took us back to the mainland.

We've done that part of the tour already a couple of time, but never during the Festival and high season.
Earlier is easier and later you get more entertaining weather.
