        What I thought. I guess they'd be candidates for a new model number then.

            Scored this from @BULLITT BEE (thanks again, dude!) in an XXL (I'm an XL/L in vests) just to see. It was far to big in the chest but the length was perfect. A couple of weeks with the local seamstress, and voilá. She's taken it in at the sides to a 54cm p2p, and not touched the shoulders, so the silhouette is different to the OG. I'm happy. This is my happy face:

                  Thank you, gentlemen. I'm satisfied enough that I'm considering buying the indigo and getting the same job done.

                            Bit of documentation for the greater good:

                            In conjunction with buying (yet another) 02-IND I did a test wash of my tailored 02-BLK. It's an XXL that I had taken in from 56,5cm p2p to 54cm p2p. The length was 67,6. I washed at 50c and 500 rpm in a European front loader. then let it drip dry, and got the following results:

                            Post tailoring/prewash –-> Post wash
                            P2P: 54,5cm --------------> 53,6cm
                            Front length 67,6 ---------> 66cm

                            So shrinkage to be had with a warmish wash.

                              A couple of questions on fit and sizing if you don't mind! I want to order this but am stuck deciding if an XL or XXL will fit best. I have wide shoulders but a relatively shorter torso and am trying to fit this vest snug (but not restrictive) while also making sure the length is such that you can still see at least some of a belt buckle at the bottom.

                              The only IH shirt I have is the IHSH-156 Western in Charcoal and I had to return the XL for an XXL purely due to the shoulders being tight and the chest slightly snug (all other measurements were perfect). I could have lived with it but, given the feedback that it would shrink when washed, I was recommended to size up to an XXL.

                              Would you gents mind sharing your shoulder, P2P, and height measurements? And also if you own the IHSH-156 that would greatly help me understand what would work best for me.

                              @Graeme did you end up going with the XL or XXL? How did you find the fit?

                              Sorry for the long post but I've never bought a vest without trying it on first so I'm struggling to understand the fit. Cheers!

                                  Hey mate,

                                  Well I have the xxl in the vest and xxl in the IHSH-157 (check if the measurements are similar to the 156, I am sure they are). The minimum that I need across the shoulders and chest are 19" and 23" respectively. I am 5"9.

                                  The vest fits perfectly across the shoulders and chest and I wouldn't have gone for anything smaller.

                                  In terms of length, the end of the vest just comes over the bottom of the belt. But I get around this by just leaving the bottom one or two buttons undone, which aesthetically I prefer anyway!

                                  Personally, if in doubt about sizing, I tend to go with the bigger size. Experience has taught me that I just wont wear stuff if it is a bit small.

                                  I have both the black and the indigo. Both are top notch in terms of fabric and construction. The fabrics are also so different that I could comfortably justify both. I find that the black vest has more of a vintage feel due to the beige tone of the wabash dots.

                                  Hope that helps!

                                    Thanks Cutlasshound - I think I just found my fit model for all IH tops! We have identical dimensions so it sounds like XXL is the way to go for me.

I have wide shoulders but a relatively shorter torso and am trying to fit this vest snug (but not restrictive) while also making sure the length is such that you can still see at least some of a belt buckle at the bottom.

                                        My general impression is that vest fitting is even more dependent on body types and personal preference than jean fits. My problem with the IHV-02's is that the best fitting chest sizes are often a little short for my liking. A bit of belt at the front is fine, too much and there's a lot of shirt/t-shirt showing at the back which can look great if you're a small, skinny guy but not on those of who are chunkier.

                                        Please note that I wear my IHV-02's exclusively over t-shirts or Henleys. If you're considering wearing over heavier shirts then my experience isn't relevant. I don't own the 156 (I own other UFH's), but own both vests and have owned different versions of them in my quest for the best fit. I also have the sample of the Herringbone double indigo IHV-02. I'm 180cm and 94kg and wear mostly XL in shirts, with the occasional XXL in the mix if they come up small. My perfect p2p in an IH shirt is 58-59cm. My perfect IHV-02 measurements would be near to a 53cm chest and 64cm front length, but I've only come to that conclusion from buying and trying. So the ideal vest would combine the typical shoulder and chest measurements of an L with the length of an XL. As with @Cutlasshound I tend to err on the side of caution as a touch too big gets more use than a touch too small. These will shrink a little with a hot wash too. Here's how mine stack up:

                                        BLK: XXL - modified (see earlier in this thread). Fits ok across the chest but is a little long.

                                        IND: XL - a little big all round, 56cm chest and 65cm front length. Hasn't been hot-washed yet so I'm anticipating a better fit when I get round to it.

                                        HII sample vest: L - the best fitting IHV-02 I own. 54.5cm chest, 65cm length. Better fitting shoulders than the other two for my tastes.

                                        One method of finding out how vests are going to fit that has worked for me, is to find a close fitting tee shirt and measure the p2p then add 2-3cm. That should be a good vest p2p. Then put the tee on, mark the ideal length for your vest (where the pointy bit will end) on your tee and measure from that point to the shoulder seam, by the collar that's a decent indicator of the front length you want. Remember, your best p2p on a vest is going to be smaller than your best p2p on a shirt as the armholes are much bigger on vests.

                                        Good luck!
