What do we think of some limited edition IH overalls:

They look great with Aero jackets and chucks or boots.  What do you like or think.

I was thinking today when I was trying to get my belt to deal with my new 21oz IH's, and failing, I wished IH did a double stitched leather belt ie two thickness of leather straps stitched one on top of the other together to make a thicker stronger sturdier belt that would tame the denim around my waist and perhaps then adding a nice brass or nickle 40's style biker buckle.  It was a standard thing in the 40's and 50's to order on biker jackets to get a double thickness belt and would suit the density and stubborness of the cloth.  All those in favour say AYE!

You seen the thickness of the IHB-01 and IHB-02?

Yes that's nice similar to the R.M.Williams belt thickness for 15oz moleskins but not enough!  Nay.  Think of old cowboy gun holster thickness or old cop belt thickness (if you've ever felt one).  Double stitched leather is the sh*t, like your wallets, it is workmanship and truly horny.  Trust me.  Put it to the big man or even Will at Aero to build a demo.  Believe me you won't look at a single leather belt after you've worn double thickness.

Please excuse my ignorance, but how about a piccie of the type of buckle you were thinking of.
                    I'm intrigued by this concept.

I have double stitched duty belts on my MC jackets. I wouldn't wear anything that thick on my jeans.
I just made a 4,5mm thick belt for me. That's about the max thickness I'd go. Sturdy as hell.
I will post pics later…if not today, maybe tomorrow, I have busy evening

Erm, yes, I think someone posted up an ebay link to a Japanese (i think) buckle dealer after a post I responded to on buckles.  Have a look you will see it on the forum.  However it would be a typical retangle buckle (turned upright like a H shape) finished in nickle or brass to match the finish or "spots" on your jacket and on your boots.

NOTE: There are a lot of early biker buckles with glass on them.  I don't like this.  I like early modernist simplicity, with only what is needed, it is far more chic and far more powerful, also if a buckle has fancy things on it they often get ripped off or caught on things.

injunjack I am of course not proposing a double stitched thickness of the belt you speak of, no, but more the thickness of the belt itself in total.  Im talking about a double stitched belt thickness of a total of 3/4mm max.  But moreso I'm refering to style from the hand stitching running around the inside top and bottom edges of the belt which gives a beatiful hand crafted vintage effect.  🙂

I might be barking up the wrong tree but is this the style of stitching you are on about ?

Kind of, but hand stitched like the wallets.

Again kinda, that has stitching and the double leather.  I propose a more period classic feel and look with squareness to the cut of the leather, I'd say fine coach leather work is a better example of what I am getting at.

I have to say, I will need some convincing.  Every stitched belt I have ever owned has unstitched after a time…...G

Is this the kind of thing? It isn't 2 belts stitched together but it is double the thickness of 'normal' heavy belts like IH and Tanner.

                                        It's 7-9mm thick (approx) x 40mm wide and made from ox-hide

They also do pretty much any other type of leather . . . but obviously not in that thickness

Anyways this has gone off the thread topic so let's get back on track

. . . and have to agree with Giles - stitching will always break down long before the leather of any good belt
