Similar experience with nearly all my Cat's Paws  ::) .. nice design (whatever - you stand / walk on it) but very sensitive.
      Meanwhile, I prefer full Vibram.

Here are my other pair of Vibergs. I'm only posting these because someone on Styleforum had only worn his pair twice, and they looked far too shiny.

They have the full ripple sole on, it's not too visible in the angle I took the picture from. It's comfortable when walking, but is wearing down pretty fast in the heel. I'll have to get them replaced before too long - the Roccia or Christy in brown camouflage are both tempting.

Decided to keep these, had a few early sizing issues but they fit pretty well now I've worn them a few times..

Viberg "Licorice" Bison MocToe Chukka: Version 2.0 😉 😉

                      Voila! Like new again.
The original honey/olive wasn't evo-ing very well, so plan was to DIY dye them to light-mid brown__ instead, they turned dark brown w/ red undertone after a double coat.

They're almost black, but will lighten up a bit as the dye thins out from brushing & wear … as a result, the reddish undertone will peek out ... kinda like how an overdyed denim fades 🤓

Thanks @BrownIcon. Styleforum occasionally do some interesting builds, in between all the boring Service Boots. The Scouts and Hoppers were too of them.

I'm glad I snagged the Hoppers - thanks for pushing me over the edge. There's chatter of them doing a rerun, but they're likely to use a partially structured toe. I think that being unstructured suits the boots better, as they'll develop a slouchy character with wear.

They do need to get over the Cat's Paw heel fixation though. 😉

@Graeme : Yeah, we lucked out on the Hopper👊🏽.  Unstructured low volume/low profile toeboxes make for collapsed wrinkly scuffed toes  … evo = nonchalant sexiness😎🔥 … Meantime, I plan to put on taps on the Cat's Paws while the boots break in, to squeeze a bit more mileage on them__ then it'll be replaced by some composite heels.

'Don't have deep pockets to fund a 'berg-binge ... can't run w/ SF high rollers ... Well, srsly I can't really stand 1/2dozen pairs of service boots that virtually look the same ... I like assortment ... as in my denim choices.

Next up, something on 2045__ seems the last shape is most appropriate for my feet config … Scout or Country Derby__ hopefully in natural Camel or Essex ... 😱 I know it's a 🔪stab in the dark😬

@Bluegrass : Initially, I thought I effed it up__ glad it worked out in the end.  It's actually just "Stage1"__ Stage2, the white Christys will be swapped w/ more durable sole … still deciding from Gloxicut, or Dr. Sole "Galaxy" Strider (ripple sole) ... or their full unit Raw Cord.

@BrownIcon I'm going to run the Cat's Paws until I kill them, and then swap out for a pair of Vibram heels.

Notre do a pair of Coffee Chromexcel boots on the 2045 last, which might be something to consider. There's a discount count for Styleforumites too.

The Dr. Sole Milky Way Ripple looks cool. Maybe I'll equip my Scout boots with them when the Vibram unit gives up.

Incidentally, Vibram now do the Christy in a camouflage pattern. I figure it might appeal. 😉

Hey @BrownIcon tidy job. What dye did you use if you don't mind me asking? And we'll done for keeping it off the welt! Precision work..

                                          Thnx🙏🏼 … 'Was really aiming for a light-mid brown.
Initially, I opted on an alcohol based dye cuz it's easier to remedy if things go south.  But then, it's hard to get color accuracy__ once dried, the coatx2 of light brown dye resulted in a reddish shade [close to red dog] when it blended w/ the original color of the leather … Ironically, I was looking for a brown shade that has the least red component😕

So, anyway, went back to the drawing board cuz I'm already committed🙄.  Luckily, I found "Fiebings Oil Dye". Coverage & color accuracy, much better__ color shade [lighter vs darker] can be  tweaked using dye thinner.

                                          As for prep:
•1st, a thorough cleaning using saddle soap
                                          •Let dry before deglazing
•Taped up the back welts w/ masking tape, i.e., not including the stitchdown @vamp
•To keep the dye off the thread, I applied a thick coat of Obenauf along the double stitching, using a toothbrush … carefully, so as not to get it on the leather uppers itself
•Started dyeing the fringe along the welt, 1st__ As an added precaution,  I painted slowly to prevent spatters & allow absorption, since oil is thicker in consistency vs alcohol based ... boot upside down, to ensure excess dye don't trickle into the welt 🤓
