I want to know how fast these sold compared to all the other IH shirts. These flew off the shelf! So happy I got both, truly a beautiful flannel!

On a scale from pathetic to amazing, good.

I'm confused on the new shirts, I know that the size has been an issue with this new shirt ( running small) I just recd the yellow in a XL and it's small. My issue is that I own 11 XL shirts from denim, chambray, heavy flannel, and uhf's and the xls are all over the map. I understand that with different types of fabric sew up slightly different but the 137 is really small. And other materials are not consistent. Don't get me wrong the yellow is amazing and I get the blue one delivered tomorrow but why can't there be a little more consistency? G, I get that it's not your fault but give me an answer so it makes sense in my head.

I'm an XL, and a L, depending on the shirt. I always check the posted measurements before ordering so I don't have any too big, or too small. Does it have to do with these items being made for multiple markets? Maybe.

@Witt I am in the same boat as you. I am an XL in all my IH shirts. I have…7 now. So 5 before the 137, I got both...ha. 6 are westerns, 1 work shirt. My 126 XL fits looser than any others, even my two 64s. My XL 92 was the most slim fitting in the chest, but a GREAT cut for my body and length.

I am 6'1" about...195-200lbs. The 92 still feels a little more snug in chest(by IHUK measurements it is .1" smaller in chest, but is a duck weave, not flannel). The 137 being a flannel, it did stretch a little and now they fit better than when I first tried them! This is one of my favorite cuts I have or tried from IH.

To put simply, don't worry...you will be in LOVE real soon!

I never go by tag size, I always make sure the numbers are right. I know what the smallest numbers I can go with in the most critical areas.

@Jordan, you and I are pretty close in size. I also look at the numbers but I still want to know why the sizes are off. It's just the engineer in me and maybe there is no answer but I wanted to throw it out there.

Different fabrics behave differently, so they sew up differently.  Indeed different batches of fabric can behave differently from each other - in the extreme, different parts of the same roll can behave differently.  We try and ensure consistency (unless we are deliberately altering the cut), but sometimes we get caught out.  I we move shirt production from one factory to another, we will actually resample existing shirts as the way a shirt sews up in one factory can be different from another. We are dealing with organic stuff, it just is not consistent.  I'm always an L or XL.  When I used to wear other brands, I had the similar issues, so it's not unique to IH…  I am sure with the larger brands who weave more fabric at once, who sew up in more automated factories in massive batches, get mire consistency, but I bet there's still some variance....

Wrong, but I would guess chambrays and other solid color shirts are a bit easier to match sizing than plaids and stiles due to pattern matching.

Certainly easier to make and with less fabric waste, but not the reason that sizes differ…..

Bugger!  The size L I ordered is a bit too small for me. If it shrinks a tiny bit I'm screwed.
I'll have to return it for a XL I'm afraid.

Cheers @Finkster and the best thing was, UPS turned up 10 minutes after the current Mrs Nomad left for work  😉
Great shirt, perfect weight IMHO, the collar sits nicely and doesn't have a tendency to curl up like a UHF, definitely comes up slightly slimmer.

G, thanks for the explanation I figured it was something like that but I wanted to hear it from you. Lol. Even with the slimmer cut the shirt is awesome. I just can't layer underneath it. I was hoping that all the time in the gym was really paying off, but sadly it'd just a slimmer cut!  🙂

I don't really see the problem, I was L / XL in all IH Shirts so far and would fit in XL here as well. And with the given exact measurements it's super easy to pick the correct size. I guess most of the guys here could describe their perfect Shirt/Tee/Jeans/Jacket measurements from their memory.
