Thanks, I can't wait to pick it up!  I've got a 500km drive home from the dealership, so plenty of time to get familiarised 🙂

It won't take you that long, there ain't much to get familiarised with ;D.  Heated seats is about as complicated as it gets, though I suspect you won't be needing them.  First thing to do is chuck out the feckin useless stock radio.  We replaced ours with a blue tooth Sony device.  Now we have hands free on the phone and the world of Spotify, plus Apple route guidance….Love it

Good point.  It would have been more fitting to retro fit one of these now I think of it:

Haha, yeah there's not much techno wizardry in there is there.  All the Australian spec Defenders have the Alpine headunit / sub set-up, so we'll see how that sounds, otherwise I'll do the gramophone upgrade.

I had a Bentley T2 also from 1978 for a few years. Wonderful driver…but really complicated mechanically. And looney tunes expensive to repair. Loved driving it though.

Thanks appfaff. They put the 3.6 in it which is pretty much standard right now. It's a great car. I like the DTS as well, kind of big, has a much bigger gas guzzler in it. I'm trying to hold on to it a bit, but who knows when I see the CT6.

I always though the mid sized caddy engines were actually the best - tighter tuned, peppier and a bit more howl to them - exactly what I want for a mid-sized SUV or a sport tuned sedan.
