For a while I've been using some Red Wing 3140 as my do everything work and casual boot, but I'm looking to take a step [or 2 or 3] up and get some custom fitted White's or Nicks. Probably Nicks tbh because I like their stitching and the way the heel counter overlaps with the upper more. That's practically the only difference between the two boots as the grumpy old man at my local distributor of White's and Nicks kept stressing. Sadly he was a giant douche and probably had never ordered a boot for someone that wasn't a firefighter, so I won't be dealing with him again, but that's a story for another time.

I've been doing research and trying to decide on what configuration I want. I think I'm pretty set on natural CXL, but I wanted to make sure it would be ok for a work environment that takes a lot of scuffs. Seems like that would add a lot of character to that kind of leather, but I've heard somewhat different things about the toughness of the leather. Want to make sure it can take these kind of hits on a daily basis.

Another thing I'm mulling over is the sole type. Since my current boots are a wedge sole and I'm walking on smooth concrete all day, my first instinct was to go for something like this in a 6" version.

But after seeing awesome pics like this, I'm wondering if a traditional logger/cuban heel and a Vibram 700 could be just as comfortable for 8 hour days standing and walking on concrete.

I'm concerned the 2021 sole will wear down too fast with the foot miles I put in, but at the same time having that elevated rubber sole could be better for when I have to stand in up to 1/2" of water when cleaning in the cooler at work.

Lastly… a question about lasts. So, if I wanted the Nicks version of a bounty hunter, I'd just order a 6" boot with the #3 toe? Not really sure what the equivalent would be.

          Thanks

I picked up a pair from Zuriick on Friday. 20% off, I couldn't resist.
Size 11 and I wear a 12 in sneakers (New Balance, Saucony), and 11.5 in Red Wing. I'm surprised they fit so well.

Those look great @tailoredfamcam !  I've been fighting some internal battles over picking up the Burgundy Williams for $340.  My only hesitation is the sporadic quality of the finishing and the occasional vamp wrinkling near the stitchdown.  How's the finishing on your pair?

I've been wearing the past two days and they're great. I don't have any issues at all.

I'm tempted on picking up the burgundy Williams, which I initially wanted, but I can't justify another boot purchase.

This soon. I'll be picking up a pair of Whites next year, I'm sure.

Just an FYI, Zuriick is selling some of their Nicks boots for super low prices on their website.  I'm tempted to pick up another pair.  $255 for a pair of handmade boots?  Crazy.

I'm going to let the pictures do the talking; Wescos, Nicks (Zuriick) & Whites

I would say my Nicks (Zuriick) are on a par with my Wescos and Whites in terms of comfort and build quality. Of the three boots pictured the Nicks (Zuriick) are probably the most affordable.

Much appreciated brother! I'm sorting a custom Hotshot build with them, so my curiosity was peaked a little. Reviews put build quality on par with Wesco, but with them sourcing leather from both Horween and Seidel it's a balance between the two on options. Not to mention that the same build through Wesco would be about $300 more due to upcharges and sourcing the upper leather I'm going with.

Received my Nick's high-arch Manito "oxfords" and snapped a couple of photos in tried and true potatoe-quality; no giggling at my lavender colour (ok, they are lila) Darn Tough socks!

Initial impressions: the finishing is not bad while not being amazing either, most notably with the left shoe's quabaug heel not sitting flush with the heel stack. The fit is not unlike I sort of kind of expected/knew it would be, considering the aggressive taper and sleek looks; I picked my normal White's size (8.5E) and it feels ok with these thin socks. I tried with heavier socks and the going got a whole lot tighter. I guess this could be optimal, really, considering I intended these for warm-weather use with non-bulky socks… Further, I think 8.5EE might have been too loose around the heel, as this sort of a shoe with heavy rigid soles is anyway fairly susceptible to heel-slip.

I was looking for a pair of everyday boots and think I found them with these Nick’s Falcon boots. These are my first pair of Nick’s. I bought these as ready to ship so they only took about a week to arrive. Before these, I had a pair of White’s MP Sherman service boots, which I really like but were a little too nice for daily wear. I have Viberg 2030 service boots, which look great with dress pants, but again a little too fancy for everyday wear. These Falcons are a little more casual, but nicer than my actual work boots so they fit what I was looking for. These are their brown chromexcel. Initial impression from the box is everything looked good, each boot is almost identical, and they are a nice heavy boot. They fit just like my White’s did in size 9D. They’ll need some breaking in, will post more pictures as they get some wear.

I treated these with boot oil to help break in and I’ve worn them a few more times. So far real happy with them.
