@Anesthetist that's just your way of justifying the Overseas's price. 😛

If you consider it's twice as much as a JLC Geophysic or Omega Globemaster, which are functionally similar, or three or four times that of a Tudor North Flag, which looks similar, then it's not such good value. 😉

I'm still tempted by one though. 😶

I think the bracelet is fantastic, and I like it better overall than those three.  Not enough to buy it, but it is a very lovely watch.

Does anyone have any ideas of brands that do attractive women's watches at the "entry level" (ie. roughly $3000 and below) range?

My wife has just indicated she'd like a new watch for her birthday in six months time.  I can't really give you any indications as to the style of watch she likes although definitely not a sports or tool watch.  She doesn't want something that's bulky but has already said she's not keen on the modernist look of Nomos' watches.

Both my wife and my mum have nice womens Maurice Lacroix watches. They were not particularly expensive.

Alternatively, a mate did buy his girlfriend a nice small face vintage rolex for a great price (think it was an Air King) and it looks great on her.

The Globemaster has finally arrived in the antipodes. I took a look at one today, and felt a bit meh. It's a nice watch, but wasn't really compelling. I'd be more tempted by the new Ploprof.

I'm not a fan of Tag Heuer, and I consider a tourbillon to be a waste of money, so why does this appeal?

For a start it's around $16K, whereas most other tourbillons will have another zero at the end of the price tag, and despite being allegedly there to aid precision, most aren't that accurate. The Tag is COSC rated, oh and runs at 4 Hz / 28,800 vph. It feels as though they're sticking two fingers up at the establishment, and doing the horological equivalent of Sid Vicious covering Sinatra…

@Qinhan how about the IWC Pilot 36 mm? Hodinkee say it's going to be $3950, but you might be able to score a discount, and it'd be a nice size for your missus. Or you if she didn't like it. 😶

I would have reflexively said Nomos, but you said she doesn't like the modernist aesthetic. However, the Club has atypical look for the brand.

I love Nomos but she told me their designs are "too simple" for her taste.  Can't see her going for something like the IWC either as I think she tends towards the more feminine looking watches.  We just browsed through the Maurice Lacroix catalogue online and she was pretty "meh".

I'm totally lost with women's watches so any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

The Chanel J12 is a good option, (ceramic case and bracelet, reliable and fuss-free Quartz movement, and 200M water resistance) and can be found pre-owned at around your price point. Equally nice are the smaller Panerai's (40mm case) which are unique in their appearance but not too bulky to wear. Otherwise @Cutlasshound made a good suggestion with the vintage Rolexes, and I'd add that it's probably worth looking at vintage watches from Jaeger Le Coultre (Reverso would be very nice), Cartier (Tank) and Omega

$3000 as "entry level"? Definitely not a game I'd want to enter.

Probably not what you're looking for but GS make some very nice watches for women.

I've just seen a review of the Longines Monopusher at FratelloWatches. It might give Mrs @Qinhan some more ideas.

I'd agree with @tmg about the Reverso being a good option, but the starting price is about $4400. Again, you might get a deal, or you could try the secondary or grey markets.

@Anesthetist I'm with you on small watches. I can also do big wristclocks. It's the mid-sized ones (around 39 mm) that I don't get on with! 😉

Cartier tank?  It's a classic design, and a stainless steel quartz version is about right for your price range.  Easily so if you go secondhand.

On a different end of the spectrum, how about the Apple watch?  I don't really see the point of it myself, but I've noticed a lot of women wearing them.

Or you could get the H. Moser & Cie Swiss Alps, which is shamelessly trolling Apple. :o

But at $25K, it's a very expensive joke.

The Apple watch is a really good suggestion, albeit one that I hadn't initially considered.  I'm not personally interested in smart devices.

I spent six months trying to convince my wife to get a mechanical Swiss watch. We came across the Michelle display at our local jewelry store and she instantly fell in love.

Not my cup of tea, but I don't have to wear it. She loves the ability to change the watch straps in a few seconds with no tools.
