…every single time I buy beer outside the Houston city limits.  Every goddamn time.

They'd probably block my payments if I bought anything BUT beer outside my city limit…

The annoying thing is that food is no problem, and on trips, basically all I buy is food and beer.  So four days into a trip and suddenly my card is no good.

I know I'm supposed to call and let them know I'm heading out of town, but damn, the whole point of a massive national bank and credit/debit cards is that it's supposed to make things easier.

And it was only $120 worth of beer.  That's not much, right?

It would be a hassle to switch all the auto pay stuff linked to the accounts, but I've wanted to do it for a while.

Those fraud alerts are ridiculous. My fiancé and I live about 40 miles outside of NYC. She goes to the city semi-frequently for work functions. Discover blocked her from buying cigarettes at a deli, but later that billing cycle, let someone buy THOUSANDS of dollars of nutritional supplements and protein powder from all over the U.S. with not so much as a courtesy email.

How the f*ck does that make any sense?

@Chris not sure if JPM has this feature but most other national banks have an online function now to list out your travel plans.  Much better than sitting on hold forever just to let them know you are leaving your house and plan on spending money.

This also drives me crazy.  I pay a repeat vendor on Paypal and I get a call but someone gets a hold of my credit card number, makes a fake card, and makes a run on 6 different grocery stores for over $1K in the same day and I have to discover it for myself.

I'd like to know the criteria they use for when they will block a transaction.

It can't be location alone, because they bounced a small transaction (less than $20) a half hour ride from our home and then allowed multiple large transactions across the United States.

I'll do you one better than that.  I had a Hawaiian Airlines Visa through Barclay which had never even been activated.  It never even left the top drawer in my dresser.  Anyway, I get a call late one night about suspicious activity. Someone went on a shopping spree at Payless Shoe store in Tennessee to the tune of $300-$400 with my non-activated, never swiped, unused credit card.  Then, they had the nerve to try to charge me a $100 yearly fee for card services.  I told them to kick rocks.

Haha. Someone really balled out at the Payless. $400 - what is that, like 25 pairs of shoes?

That's especially ridiculous because the breach was so obviously on their end.

I find a debit card in one of the seedy spots I frequent & call the issuing bank to cancel it so the card owner isn't put through the ringer with unauthorized charges.  The said bank put me through so much crap I wish I would have took the card & made a bunch of unauthorized purchases just2 give them the finger.

the best part is the card owner was/is Brooklyn Hard Cider, LLC.  Freaking apple juice, hahahahahaha

New Years resolutions are one of the dumbest 'traditions' out there.  Here's an idea; want to start doing, stop doing, or change how you're doing something?  Then do it.  It makes no sense to me that society has decided that once a year there is a special day where you can choose to have a fresh start.

                                      End rant.

Oh, and the goods were dispatched on Tuesday from a warehouse in Melbourne, so they've not had to travel more than 10 or 20 km.

                                            Yup.

Been down to the post office this morning. Because it's a big parcel it's being held at the distribution centre down the road, and I was helpfully told "you might need a car to collect it."

Yes, that's why I took advantage of the free delivery service because I don't have a car, and carrying a big box across Melbourne didn't seem like a clever idea.

Oh, and the distribution centre is now closed until Monday morning.
