I have the black christy on a Packer, if that helps. The heel feels kinda low, if I ever send em in for a resole, I make sure to get a halfslip 🙂

Both heels/ soles side by side, its not that much difference, but walking in the packerised and lowered Jobmaster is much better.

Next boot will be Black Domain RO or Olive Smooth LTT Jobmaster with Amortred Sole including Halfslip or something 🙂 Lets see when I have the funds…

@JCMx800 what does the half-slip do? Just curious because I was planning on getting a pair of LTT Jobmasters with a black Christie sole and wasn't planning on getting a half-slip, but maybe I should…

                    This is a copy/paste review from Reddit/r/goodyearwelt:

                    https://imgur.com/a/3j8hX

INTRO: These were a 100% impulse buy, from a seller on eBay. I've been wanting a burgundy boot, a LTT boot, and a Wesco boot. These check all of those boxes, so it was a no-brainer. Instacop. There's a stamp inside the boot that says "Tedapes," or something like that. Whatever.

SIZING: These are a 9.5D. I am a 9.5D / 9E (L / R) on the brannock. I'd say these are TTS, albeit on a high-volume last, which accommodates thicker socks. I pulled out the provided full-length leather sockliners and replaced them with my own (slightly thicker) cushioned insoles. The leather sockliners are probably 4-5oz leather…nice. On my smaller foot, the extra 1/2 size in length isn't a problem - the LTT system keeps the foot from sliding around.

                    BUILD:

                    Model: Lace-to-toe Jobmaster
Height: 6" or 7", rolled top
                        Leather: All smoothout burgundy domain
                        Lining: Unlined
Toebox: Partially structured, I think. The toebox has structure, but you can easily push it in. Possibly canvas, leather or denim.
                        Outsole: Vibram 430
                        Midsole: Single, brown
                        Heel: Cuban
                        Eyelets: Black eyes & hooks
                        Laces: Black Nylon
                        Heavy Stitching: Black
                        Light Stitching: Black
                        Stitchdown Stitching: Black, 2 rows

If anyone's curious, these tip the scales at 2lb 8.5oz per boot…and they're unlined. These are my heaviest boots, edging out my Viberg Derby Boots by 3.5oz, which are lined.

OUTRO: Apocalypse capable Ronald McDonald boots with a feminine heel and that funny thing on the toe.

You will get a little bit more heel-height for better walking 🙂 They are comfy as feck without, but they would feel more right with the Halfslip.

A half-slip seems to add a bit more shape/support to boots.

Regarding half-slips…  I like the use of a half-slip, when it's paired with a half-sole, like Vibram 705 or Cats Paw.  The half-slip helps maintain a constant thickness along the length of the sole.  It can be substituted for a layer in the heel stack, so the heel is the regular height.

                          No half-slip...

                          With half-slip…

Our Half-Slips run from the back of the midsole/outsole, under the arch and generally disappear behind the ball of the foot. We put them in our Highliner boots, which were initially made for Power Linemen. We stack those models with our half-slip and our lineman shank. They were meant to add to your arch support, and to provide material in the area where Gaffs were wrapping under. Generally speaking we can add them to the majority of our boots, and often you will see some of our unisoles with the #9109 shoe last and a half-slip. We add them to balance out the stance for the shoe last mentioned.

Especially like the half slip on boots with a low heel type sole. It adds excellent arch/support where it would otherwise be mostly flat.

Is there anywhere in NYC or near by that carries Wescos?

Also how well does the domain leather hold up? I was about to pull the trigger on some Whites but it seems like I'd be much happier with a pair of Wescos. I love the heavy duty build of them.

I was able to try on a pair of 10.5ee Boss boots and they felt good minus the toe box being cramped. Do the jobmasters fit the same way?

Along the lines of the half slip… What's the heel height of your lowered Jobmaster? I've read that if you order 1/2" lowered heel, Wesco uses a different last with a lower heel and the same toe shape, rather than having the boot lean back significantly, and that every every shape (Jobmaster, Packer, Boss, etc) has a low-heel version. This is most common with the Narrows (1339) last, with the Motorcycle Patrol last being it's 1/2" lower counterpart. I've never had this confirmed, though.

Regardless, it sounds like you're going to go with a wedge sole, to go 1/2" lower, then get a half slip. Does that sound accurate?
