Realizing most of you are more into mechanical watches, anyone have any experience with the Seiko Astron line?

I've decided I really dislike setting the time on my watch when I travel through timezones. I'm super anal about getting the seconds and minutes hands to sync.

I used to have one but mine was the first gen and extremely thick. It was very handy though and was good looking.

I haven't had a chance to try it on, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be too big for my 6.25" wrists. That would be my first choice though

@mikesantor The boots look like the WESCO Foot Patrol in Burgundy Domain leather. The boots are very nice but the Double Red SD is the star of that show!  Nice one!! @Tempvs

I've heard that you're meant to match your watch strap, belt and shoes. @Tempvs has gone one better with the red print on the Rolex. (Nice piece, but I like the Mille at the top of the page better.)

Chopard have launched a new brand, Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud, which takes its name from a pioneer of maritime chronometers. Their first piece is a limited edition, the Chronomètre FB-1, which is a tourbillion in a rather funky octagonal case.

There's an interview with Karl-Friedrich Scheufele at Revo, which discusses the watch further.

I like the design, but my tastes aren't really typical. However, I'm not convinced by the use of a tourbillion, which was developed for pocket watches, in a piece that's drawing inspiration from marine chronometers. L. Leroy are another brand with a similar, tenuous connection to chronometry, and they're actually focused on accuracy as a way of promoting their alleged heritage.

Of course, if you want a tourbillion then this, frankly, is the piece to go for…

It's the Vacheron Constantin 57260, which is the most complicated timepiece ever. Hodinkee's team has been whipping themselves into an orgiastic state over it, with an overview, hands on, and technical analysis.

I'm not sure if it counts as a watch, though. It weighs in at around a kilogram (2 pounds), and is too large for most pockets. Not very practical then…

No price tag is given, but I think that it's probably out of reach for all of us round here!

Vacheron fully reestablishes themselves with that piece.  They had sorta falling behind some of the other storied houses imo after the quartz crisis but man are they back. 57260 looks damn good for having such a potential mess of complications.

I like Vacheron because they're less conservative than their peers, such as Patek. The 1972 is my favourite of their collection. Shame about the price tag… 😞

The new Harmony Chronograph (covered at Hodinkee) is also lovely. But the price tag is even more of an issue!

Price still a ton but way more accessible than the chrono.
