Actually was a few days back, but took the family up to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. A great time was had by all, and I thought I would share some of the great pics

The pictures really don't so the scale justice. The views of Lake Michigan are breath taking. I am pleased to have been able to share this with my kids

What do you call a boat that's only got it's fins in the water (like in G's last picture)? Back in my day, the boat was in the water. These days it seems to sit on top of it which I'm sure allows it to go faster.

                      It's a foiler.

A few years back people started foiling Moths, which are a small dinghy, and a Swiss / French team built l'Hydroptère, which was somewhat larger…

It does allow boats to go faster. L'Hydroptère sustained nearly 53 knots (about 60 mph / 100 km/h) over a 500 metre course to take the world speed sailing record.

^So when are they no longer defined as boats, but a new form of thing all together? A racing car that doesn't have at least 1 wheel on the road is unlikely to be considered a car, maybe a hovercar. It's really cool, and I love where it's going, literally mind blowing, my concept of boat no longer fits the reality. How on earth WTF etc etc.

I agree it's all mindblowing. There's talk of taking one around the world as a record attempt too.

The next generation of open 60's (the round the world single handers that Alex Thompson sails) will have lifting keels.  They will not actually come out of the water like the Americas Cup AC45's, but they will de-weight the boat and reduce the wetted area.  Expect some incredible stuff in the next Vende.

In any other news Mercedes Benz Racing now title co-sponsor Alex - amazing…....

@Finkster We're in Garmisch and are using the canyons as base for our hikes - it's super hot here. Yesterday was the Leutaschklamm, today the Höllentalklamm.

Last update for a while. We're in italy now but have to leave early as I broke my elbow and destroyed my tendons on one foot after which I fainted for a few seconds. This happened on a sidewalk near the hotel btw. We're leaving now to find out wether I need surgery. Ways to end a beautful hike. Much love to my girlfriend who did a great job. See you in a few days.

So you go climb a shit ton of mountains, and follow pathways fit for a mountain goat, and you break your elbow on a sidewalk near your hotel?.. That's not the Max Power way man…  😃

Anyway: hope you had a blast (before the SideWalk Incident)...
