Thank you all. Yes, it was indeed Waldmeister - my girl is from eastern berlin and she was super happy to find such GDR goodness (in her eyes).

For me it always taste like soap.
But if you brew a bowl of punch with it…...
(2 parts white wine, 1 part sparkling wine and not more than 3 grams of Waldmeister per litre)
