I was thinking of trying the 38 to get a thigh measurement that fits…and then put them in the machine and dryer to see how much the waist will shrink as it is too big. I like the higher rise on these. Any idea how much in the waist this might shrink?

I didn't measure mine pre wash, but they were measured at IH as 37.5". I followed the soak and wash instructions included and they came out at a hair over 35".

Been wearing them a couple of hours now and they are already a little comfier, plus I just managed to button them in less than a minute.

I have my doubts about you being comfortable in the waist and top block over the long haul. I don't have the fortitude to do what you are attempting….but you might get a great result. Cheers

Honestly mate I think they'll be fine, I've been through enough raw denim to know when to wave the white flag and when to persevere.

I'll wear them for a couple of days and report back on how they stretch out, if they do go back to tagged size as described they might even be a little loose.

Mega, they will be fine in the waist soon enough. I know it's different denim but I had the same with my mbb's last time around. They left me bruised and bloody but after a week or so they had stretched. Look good and will only get better.

@Broark If you live in a warm climate I don't think these would get much wear, just my two cents.

@spitfiredealer good to hear. Mine are really squeezing my waist. But it's just day one.

@superfuzz You're right, I have two other pairs of Iron Heart (634S-B and the SExIH 633S) and the overdyed 21 oz. isn't too bad here, while the 20 oz. unsanforized denim is more difficult to wear.
Thanks for being a voice of reason! But it sure is tempting.

Austin Texas. It gets pretty brutal in the summer, but I do manage to wear denim year round.
But not usually 21/23 oz denim.

I love Austin, yeah I would not mess with denim that doesn't breathe in Texas. I think the unsanforized 18oz is supposed to breathe less than the 21oz classic denim.

I think he was talking about the inseam, earlier he said that the 36 shrunk to 35…

@Megatron1505 my 666UHR stretched out to tag size quite fast. They hurt quite a bit in the beginning. First week was quite painful.

It would definitely be a challenge, I did wear a pair of 20 oz Flat Head's in the summer here once and that was tough as the denim was not the most breathable.
I don't know how those Thai guys manage to do it!

Well, if you do take the plunge, I would recommend sizing up one because you'll be washing them pretty regularly I would guess!

Valid suggestion, I think I'll most likely hold off and just enter my Ooe Yofukutens into the contest.
I don't think I could put up with 100+ degree weather for a few months in such a heavy pair of jeans.
Hell, I've got to work on the other two pairs of IH denim that I already do have.
It's just tempting see how nice these pairs turned out.
