    Hello,

I 've just discovered this fabulous brand. VERY interested in the 555 01 model.

Can we expect a lot of stretch, particularly at thigh and knee level ?

I'm looking for a tapered denim but not for a very slim, in the different pictures in this thread, those jeans don't look that slim. is that true or are they really really slim ?

thank you very much for your help

You can expect a good amount of Stretch in the waist of the 21 oz Indigo model (so this one). The thighs and knees might also Stretch a bit, but not crazy amounts. As the top block of the 555 is rather generous but tapers a lot to the knee and below, chosse wisely, wether you can make them work. I can, and I normally can't wear Slim / skinny fits. They don't feel like jeggings but are surely pretty narrow in the legs.

Agree with Max, these are "slim" not "skinny" - I find them roomy at top with a mid to slightly high rise, and they taper proportionately all the way down.  Measure some jeans you like and compare, "the Iron Heart way" - that will give you the best view of how they will fit.  This cut is not for everybody - you might also look at the 666 or Beatle Busters for a slimmer fit (vs. the 634).

            @ maxpuissant

I've had these for almost two years. The waist has streched nicely, but the thigh and knee are still snug , although very nice and soft.

Had mine for 7 months now, soaked in the sink at 4 months due to alcohol spillage…

I'm tempted to throw them in the washing machine now, but not sure if it's down to boredom or them needing a wash?  😞

Also means I can get them hemmed at Self Edge next week  😃

Not 100% sure if the machine has a slow spin setting mind.

I'm tempted to argue with Giles here (yeah, sir, I know your wrath…).
When in doubt, don't wash is my credo. So look at them, sniff them (when unobserved) and ask is it really necessary, and then postpone the wash.... 😞

No wrath, but my credo (and it has served me pretty well for 43 years of wearing denim) is that if they're dirty, wash them.  I can't believe that after 4 months they don't need a wash…And if they are really dirty, it'll extend the life of the denim...

Dear Giles, our difference then is likely in the degree of dirtiness that justifies a wash, where my threshold is higher than yours. The point of extending the life of the denim is very true, of course, only I find torn/destroyed denim so damn cool…..

This alone would be reason to wash them, since the good folks at Self Edge don't want to touch your grotty jeans.

And I agree with Giles- 4 months without a wash means they're due.

I know I won't convince you, but please allow me my "dissenting opinion".
My fave anecdote is when Denham had a pop-up repair shop, and I had two badly damaged jeans in dire need of repair. One of them was truly grotty, mostly from a previous owner. As they had old-fashioned metal tubs there, a wash on location would have been an option. But the true denimhead who did the repair (and became a friend later) expressed no disgust, but rather admiration, put on those thin surgical-style gloves and did the repair. I wore the jeans for quite some time as they were, and eventually tub-washed them (with me wearing them) last summer.

I had already decided to wash them before posting on here, just thought I would join in.

3 months is enough for me to know that they need a wash, plus I wanted to get them hemmed again (and know that SE will only do that with clean jeans)

I rarely wash my jeans, and yes it sounds plausible that they don´t last as long as frequently washed jeans, BUT, i have 14oz Nudie jeans i have worn 500-600 days without wash and still holding on just fine. My jeans doesn't smell worse after 500 days without wash, compared to 8 weeks of wear without wash.
