Watches - another OCD problem
-
Thank you for your kind words, @Sugar Mountain . Are you interested in the modern Explorer IIs? Cool watches. In comparison to the Subs, I think the main issue is case size. The modern Explorer II would be too big for my wrist at least, whereas I think the Sub is in such a sweet spot. Once you have them both on your wrist I am sure one will speak to you more!
-
@babyknight No, I'm not a fan of the modern Explorer II. The increased size, the shape of the hands and the big lugs just don't appeal to me. I'm lusting after the Ref.16570. I'd love a Sub too but they are a bit common around town in HK!
-
@Sugar Mountain but isn't HK one of the easier places in the world to find a vintage sub?
-
Since the forum is in a Rolex frame of mind, here is an uninspired pic of mine:

very nice @Anesthetist
-
very nice @Anesthetist , very similar in style to my railmaster
found this a few weeks back , it belonged to my wifes father
ive never really been into watches but after looking through this thread and a few others im slowly getting sucked in , two on my wish list are a Omega speedmaster and a vintage sub
-
Great watches @Anesthetist @Flash
@Anesthetist is it the current model? Such an iconic classic watch and still a sporty
@Flash love the speedy had one some years ago, the plexi version loved it a lot, unfortunately got stolen. And of course a vintage sub is always sweet, just do proper research before buying re condition of case/lugs, original pieces service dial or not etc

It has a 2006 serial and I bought it new in 2007 as an early graduation present to myself. New it was $3600, now they are over $5K. I like this version much better than the new model whereas the case seems disproportionate to the hands.
Thanks for the compliments gents -
@Anesthetist and @Flash - both very nice watches.
-
Flash, that datejust is seriously amazing!
-
Thanks guys
@grandmasterben the datejust is a really nice watch but a bit too flashy for me

@louisbosco Yes indeed. Even within a half mile radius of my apartment there are several shops selling beautiful old 5513 and 5512 etc. They're actually so commonplace it is marginally off-putting but it is still such a great watch.

On the swiss tip. I picked this up over xmas before the AUD went to total shite like it's planned to. Price was too good to pass up.
Met my criteria of being unknown unless you know about watches, black/dark dial, Lumes, date @ 3, water resistant to 100's of meters, reliable as, and no fuss servicing..
-
Here's my Citizen - much thanks @Chris who even adjusted both date and time for me
Titanium, sapphire glass, eco drive (no battery), Japan made - bit boring, but it has its merits. Love how the dials turn silver-green when there's less light. Much more classy and discrete lume than my Monster, that's for sure…
-
@Sugar Mountain the 5512/13 is a watch you can never get bored with. it's special in a sense that even if you're bored of seeing it, you're not bored of seeing it.
-
Very nice @Snowy - I had a 3227-01 for a year or so and letting it go is probably my biggest WIS regret…

I love the Ingenieur line and at one point owned the midsized model with rose gold hands. I miss it a bit but that version was a bit small. I may have to own another some day. Here is today's wear for me:
Seul, that Citizen looks like a great mix of sport and class. Wear her in good health!
