check out the passion of some Rolex vintage collectors for 60th Mount Everest Anniversary
http://hillarytenzingedition.com/
this is just a small part of Rolex rich history
Speaking of Everest, Seiko put together a watch celebrating an elderly Japanese badasses' ascent of Everest. Yuichiro Miura.
http://blog.perpetuelle.com/watches/seiko-prospex-landmaster-miura-everest-2013-spring-drive/
He keeps retaking the record of oldest man to ascend Everest, and I think this was honoring a forthcoming attempt in 2013. He broke it then at age 80.

Thank you Sir @madmonday
@mclaincausey this documentary about this gentleman skiing down the Everest is great. I love all of the old school docus from pioniers alpinists like messner etc.
-
wow that ol gentleman puts me 2 shame.
don't care for the watch they made for him but dope story never the less. The spacewalk is nice, maybe 1 day . . . Hahajjaha
sorry u all know I'm full of sh!t, but I do like it. Might be the colors & simplicity of it . . .

Nice, I am looking into that. I must say I am not a fan of the watch itself, though I kind of like the luminescent indicators.

One of the coolest watches ever imho

well watch prices tend to increase about 2-5% every year. with the introduction of that white gold on the gmt. it doesn't really help at all.

Cool and informative black bay review

I've been looking for a blue watch for quite a while (well not totally blue, but a tastefully and subtly done blue).
Tried on the blue Black Bay the other day at Yodobashi. Beautiful watch, and fit my wrist great. Liked it more than the too subdued Pelagos I also tried. Although the Pelagos is titanium, the weight difference between it and the BB was, to my wrist, negligible. I've seen some comments that the blue BB is "cold". That's definitely true when compared to the very warm red BB. And also when compared to something like the blue Seamaster in Omega's heritage line with its faux patina.

I know a lot of people hate it, but I personally like the faux patina. But I understand why the BB has gone for a slightly colder look…...
Alas, since all are out of my price range, I might end up with a not blue watch, the Seiko Shogun. This one looks great and was far far lighter than the BB or Pelagos.....Didn't work as well on my wrist though....

Nice shogun @Chiba J. Like the sub
Yeah the bb is great have been lurking around that watch since the red re-Interpretation came out in 2012. have no prob with Fauxpatina too.
Well well the blue really pushed me over the edge and my man @Sugar Mountain killed me with your wristshot so I had a little visit at the AD and oh yes the blue on leather strap was still available in stock, juhuuuu. I am back in the watch game after a while without sub. Feels awesome and i prefer the blue a bit more for everyday use. That baby gonna be rocked

Congratulations @davito. You got yourself a fine watch. Looking forward to seeing a wrist shot or two from you soon.
@Qinhan Which Bulang & Sons straps did you cop? Their photos of the Blue Bay are arguably the best out there and I love the look of the BB on the camel tone leather strap. Looks stunning. Can't wait to see the straps on your Tudor Sub.
@Chiba J. Digging that Seiko Shogun. I imagine that watch could take a proper beating (like any Seiko!)

@Chiba:
^^ The feature that Shogun owners rave most incessantly about seems to be the Daishield treatment that Seiko used on their titanium for the shogun. Apparently it is near scratch proof. So, yes, this one should take a proper beating, and then some….
Davito, nice score I'm sure it will serve you well! The more I see the blue, the more I like it.
Chiba, I can attest to the quality of the ti coating used by Seiko as I wear my Seiko SnowFlake almost daily and it shows very little wear. Citizen's duratect is also very good. I wore a Chronomaster for a year solid and it only shows one larger scratch from hitting a screen door. It must have been a hard enough knock to damage the underlying steel. Back on track, I really like your Shogun, especially on that zulu. Well done!

Agreed that the B&S photos look awesome.
I've been going nuts on straps recently. I picked up the camel and dark brown straps from B&S and a whole bunch of NATOs from some other suppliers. I'll get some photos up eventually. My watch is in for a service at the moment so I might not have it back for a while.

@Qinhan yes please show us some strap pics when your watch is back from spa.
Thx bro @Chiba J.
Thx for your kind wishes @Anesthetist
I owned several high end tool watches in the past and i love Rolex but seriously this is the best bang for the buck imho, currently on leather strap, will change to the fantastic woven tudor nato after xmas
