Schmidt Shirt

Friday!
Wife and kiddos are at a local corn maze and then want to meet up at the … mall. Ugh
So I hit the canyon for some 2 wheel therapy.
I feel blessed to be so close to the mountains
Sport mode for the twisties.
-
The meet up.
Resistance is futile
At least Halloween costumes are all squared away.
At least I get to enjoy a nice nighttime ride back.
-
All's well that ends well…or at least with yummy Mexican food and wine
-

Thanks @summ3rhays for the prompt shipment.
Let's get started with some detail shots. I'll be wearing the beast later to the Pearl Jam concert, so no fits yet, as I'm still gym-funky now.
This shirt is made out of a beautiful selvage denim which is reinforced by a selvage hickory stripe-ish fabric.
Here's an interior shot. Notice the reinforced forearms and felled seams. Immaculate. The taping on both cuffs has the self edge of the striped fabric perfectly aligned at the interior edge of the cuff. This kind of attention to detail permeates the garment.
Detail of the aforementioned cuff. Notice that there is shearing as well as darting on the cuff.
Here is a shot of the cuff and selvage gusset.
Here is the back. Right below the top yoke (remember, this is reinforced on the interior with the striped selvage fabric) notice the shearing. The tops of the sleeves also share this shearing. Look at how clean the center seam is. The design, attention to detail, and skill of the construction on this thing are very impressive.
Buttons are chunky MOP, and are beautiful but my camera can't do them justice. If you can't tell, I'm super impressed. Seeing a Schmidt in person is a completely different thing–they look incredible in pictures, but that only tells a little bit of the story.

Wabash work shirt kindly made by @nietenhosen. Commissioned this off the back of the travelling shirt, which I was very impressed by (despite having bugger all chance to wear it thanks to the summer). Jan is a consummate professional and a pleasure to deal with. Incredibly pleased with the end result. The cut of the shirt fits me perfectly and the stitching is perfect.
I've desired a wabash shirt for a while and I wanted one that was a lighter weight than the one made by our beloved Iron Heart, due to the fact that I own the 75/95/99 and wanted something that I could wear underneath them, or in the summer. I contacted Jan via the forum and email, stating what I wanted. Here is what we came up with….
- 5.5oz wabash fabric
- cuffs lined in wabash fabric to provide reinforcement
- beautiful grey mother of pearl buttons
- navy blue constructional stitching
- elbow reinforcements stitched to the outside of the arms (the plan is that this will stand out a lot more once the fabric fades)
- no throat latch on stop button (this is a typical feature of the Schmidt shirts and whilst it looks great, I sadly never have use for one)
- no external branding
Stamp on the packaging:
Lovely swing tag with a personal flourish:
Constructional stitching on pocket and grey mop button detail
External elbow reinforcements. In the end we opted to have the stripe on the reinforcement running in line with the rest of the fabric. The stripes align perfectly:
The colour comes out darker in the pics and the blue is a bit brighter in reality. This is the picture that most accurately represents the colour of the fabric:
I'm reasonable short (5"8ish) but pretty broad (42 to 44" chest) and as such the work shirt cut tends to work better for me. This fits perfectly across the back:
Will post someone proper fit pics when the opportunity arises!!! I will definitely be using Jan again in the future.
