I'm on the Wesco train already, the engineer boot thing might still be a leap for me though.

If you get the right build, you'll never understand why it took you so long to get your first engineers!  My engineers are my chillin' out boots. Ahhhhh….......

for those wesco boss wearers- what kind of socks do you wear? the top strap is rubbing against my calf and its pretty painful.  i tried wearing long socks and they just keep falling down

or do you guys wear short socks and just get callouses?

I had this same problem, especially with my roughout Bosses. I bought these Fox River military socks but they kept falling down into the boot. I wound up just folding my socks over the top of the boot. It feels a little funny at first but then you get used to it and it's fine, and no rubbing. I think Wesco actually sells socks so they should not fall down.

My factory 2nd Brown Smooth Packers landed today - the so called "defect" is a faint scratch on the left toe, barely perceptible. You'd never notice if you weren't looking for it.  I am quite pleased - my first pair of Wescos!  They are stiffer and seem heavier than my White's SJ/BH (not as comfortable out of the box).  But they are a half size larger than I normally wear (since that was what was available, I took a chance) - and while they seem longer than I need, the arch fits perfectly.  The width (D) seems to be perfect (how my foot feels in the boot) but I notice that the laces don't seem to pull the boot closed as much as I'm used to.  It's not a problem, just different than my other boots - I think they look great.  All of these ultra-high quality boots have a "personality" and I am looking forward to getting to know these beauties.  I need to wear these pretty hard for a few weeks and see how they do.  I HATED the yellow laces they came with, but luckily I had some extra leathers.  I didn't "test drive" the kiltie - maybe later - but my initial impression is I like them as shown below - here are some pics.  They are certainly a well-made and handsome pair of boots imho.

Funny, mine came in too 😉

The "defect" on mine is just irregular stitching on the left boot's outsole…So minor I can't believe it!

Color comparison to the Jobmaster Packers I previously picked up in the background. The new pair are lighter

All in all, glad I bought these, they're such a handsome boot and I honestly prefer the packer toe to the job master although both have their place!
