I went down to Harrods this afternoon because they had the prototypes for the upcoming Jaeger LeCoultre Geophysic on display.

This is the original version, which was released in 1958. It was based on their Mark XI. It's in a typical, vintage 35mm case, which was a bit small on my wrist.

The new version, here in steel, has been upsized to around 38mm. It's a gorgeous piece, but I'm trying to figure out whether it would work on my wrist. It looks OK in this shot, but felt a touch small. Then again, I'm used to a big hunk of a Breitling.

          And here they are together.

Both watches had a Harrods price-tag of £0.01. I offered to take both off their hands, but they seemed unwilling to do so. 😉

I also tried on the Chopard 8HF they've got in stock. It's got an 8 Hz movement, whereas most other high-beat designs top out at 5 Hz.

Chopard are bringing out a black version this year, which adds a power reserve indicator.

@Giles if you're after a fitness tracker for swimming then take a look at the Misfit Shine.

I didn't watch the pretentious video. But any product with an accent in its name is suspect…

Video is a shocker, but I have been using the Withings Scales and Pulse for around a year now (longer on scales). It has modified my life style, and the Mrs and I, even a year in still talk about our daily activities and often compete on week-based steps. Not a gimmick. The sleep side has/does push me to get more sleep. I'll read a few reviews and if 1/2 decent will purchase. 2 watches 😮

That is an extraordinarily irritating website.  After the above posts, I had to check it out.  First, it crashed my phone browser.  Then I went there on my laptop and it gave me a headache- too many things moving and shifting on the screen.  And once you've viewed the video, it starts to repeat, which is really not a thing I want to see again.

Too bad, since the watch itself looks pretty good, and Withings products in general are well thought out and useable.

There's a decent one in the Burlington arcade in Piccadilly (if memory serves) though may be quite pricey! Failing that there used to be a really good pawn shop on the Fulham palace road that used to do great deals. Pawn shops can often be a good shout in my experience.
