Ha ha, it has more to do with Zidane and Henry. Newcastle have only had one truly great French player and that was a long time ago, although Cabaye was very good and Debuchy is rapidly improving.
-
No I was thinking of Boumsong or Goma or Domi or Dumas….we've had all the greats.
-
That sounds like the media narrative. You'd think he was the only person on the team
-
Not exactly Mcl…
What i went to try to say(thinking) is at he is 26 now. And the captain. He won everything possible with the Barca. All the individuals trophees possible, and nearly nothing with the Albiceste.
The team has been organised around him. for him. It was not the case for the 2 last editions.
I'm thinking at it will be very, very interessant to see how he and his guys all together will make it. That's it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Quite a joy to watch Germany just now, they didn't do much wrong…...what a calling card to leave at the first game!
-
Very impressive from Germany, stark contrast to Portugal who were undisciplined and quite poor all over the pitch.
-
Argentina did what was required without being dominant, but to be fair Bosnia looked quite a handy side. I'd be amazed if they didn't go through with the Argies.
-
I really hoped BIH would win that one and was for the most part impressed with their play. really bad luck on that own goal.

Beckerman has been a local hero here for Real Salt Lake. I like the dynamic he has established with Bradley and hope it will be enough for a solid result today.
-
Well any hope there may have been for the US to make some noise in our group just died on Altidore's hammy. Poor kid.

Unifying moment for the under dogs? Sorry momentary flash of wishful thinking.
-
Well 3 points is 3 points. I'm as full of hope as I am of pride.
-
Great battling display by the USA I thought, but the decision to leave out Donovan looks like it's going to come back and bite Klinnsman.
Personally I think Altidore is a poor player, he plays for my clubs rivals Sunderland so I saw a lot of him last season and he reminds me of an even worse version of Emile Heskey. What I will say for him though is that he can provide a focal point for the attack to build around, without that Dempsey is going to struggle to keep the ball when it's played forward as being a target man is not his natural game. I think Jurgen should be searching his squad for a guy (maybe even a defender), who can control a ball and hang onto it to release runners from midfield.

The poor man's Emile Heskey - pure gold!
