      @Snowy:

With the Briggs and Riley in the field a few weeks ago. Seemingly indestructible suitcase, 5+ international trips in and looking like the day it was purchased.

As you know Snowy I LOVE B&R…

      Acronym 3A-1

Love this bag. Pretty light, extremely comfortable to wear even with my brick of a laptop in it, surprisingly expansive storage (the pockets can really open up a ton and the main body's wedge shape can accommodate a whole lot), great ergonomics including a two-way main compartment zipper, waterproof right side/front access zipper, quick release buckles, a quick release adjustable shoulder strap (called QLQR I think), routing for cables (you could easily stow a phone or tablet in the bag and listed to it without having any pockets open), a cool, waterproof laminated fabric, and a spartan aesthetic. Built like a tank too. The one thing they should have added was that the interior pockets could have benefited from loops to secure pens in addition to generic zippered pouches (also welcome) and slash pockets (also also welcome). Since my leather notepad (complete with pen loop) will be a constant companion in here (and also serves as a back pad by happy accident) this problem doesn't really affect me though.

The QLQR thing is so nifty, it allows you to rapidly cinch the case up high where you can wear it against the small of your back, and quickly whip it around your torso to examine/access what's inside. You pull a release tab, and the case drops like a stone for easier removal and for dealing with its contents at arm's length.

Despite being a soft bag, stands upright at rest with minimal structural support, and shaped to fit comfortably in the small of your back. A mesh area makes sure that isn't a sweaty proposition:

Not recommended unless you are comfortable wearing a messenger from your left shoulder across to your right hip. The whole design and ergonomics, such as the front/right side access zipper, is predicated on that.

This is the first messenger I've ever enjoyed owning, always been a rucksack guy. But this has some advantages. It's every bit as comfortable as a rucksack, if not moreso, for normal office / commute loads, easier to access while being worn, easier to put on and take off…

      Think it, be it.

Sorry, only just saw this question!

Quality is very good.  The waxed cotton is thick and takes a little while to break in.  Hardware is also tough and durable.  Both the leather strap and waxed cotton on mine are now much softer than when I first bought it.  The bag has a very basic design, which I like, and I'm still using it everyday for work.  The evo on the bag as it gets dings and scratches looks pretty cool too.  I'll see if I can get another pic for you…

I just bought this Superior Labor engineer shoulder bag.

I was looking at one of these. What's the quality like? Looking forward to the review

Thanks mate, I did, this is this season's, so it is in a laminated "Limonata" fabric. I really like it and think it's more my speed than the sailcloth-derived one used previously.

Yeah it's much nicer, especially for the price. Have one of their tote bags in the x-pac. I can appreciate it from a technical point of view but the limonata is definitely nicer in the flesh and feels far more substantial in terms of weight!

I despise tote bags. But the Superior Labor people are some of the best around. They've set up their production in a rural area and are working very hard to build a resilient craft community in an area seriously challenged population-wise.

Never used to be a fan. Until I suffered from a prolapsed disc and couldn't use any if my backpacks or messengers for work! Indeed the superior labor stuff looks fantastic on the whole. Only a hAndful of places in the uk stock it sadly

                      Anyone own a Rimowa bag?

I've realized I need a 4 wheel rolling bag. I had a two wheel and I hated it. I've looked around and Rimowa is my favorite so far. They aren't cheap but they look cool, are super light and roll smooth.

Rimowa Salsa - Cabin Multiwheel® International $525(including tax)

This is the one the sales guy at a local store told me to get if I was set on getting a Rimowa. It's slightly larger than the super small carry-ons(it's about 5 linear inches larger) but just small enough to get away with it. He also tried to sell me on the Briggs and Riley solely because of their lifetime warranty.

#2 Briggs and Riley Torq International Carry-On Wide Body Spinner $330(including tax and shipping)

#3 Samsonite  Inova $220(including tax and shipping)

I would like a 4-wheel roller hard case carry on as big and basic as possible.

                      Thoughts?

Yeah I figured you'd back them. I saw you mention them before. Which bag do you have? Ever had a hard case from them?

Yup, love my B&R as well. Bulletproof, and great engineering. The way the wheels are protected, corners are rounded, all items are outside the storage space but protected. Shape is extremely functional as well. Urbs, I use Rimowa luggage (from the Salsa Deluxe line) and it's absolutely amazing.  I can't imagine going back to using any other brand.  The combination of lightness and toughness is unbeatable in my opinion.

I travel a great deal and with other high quality (read priced) luggage I have had in the past, parts always end up falling off or breaking, plus the high quality materials just mean they are already heavy before you even put anything in them.  Rimowa deals with both of those problems.

I also got super lucky today with finding a black Filson Field bag for $60!!!! on craigslist brand new. I honestly thought the guy made a mistake and put $60 instead of $160 or even $260 in the post. I was looking at the new Filson camera bags and was going to get one this week but figured what the hell I'll look on craigslist first and boom. I had a Billingham from Jeff but it was slightly too small for my photo gear but this is the perfect size.

After travelling with a Tom Bihn Brain Bag for the past 3 weeks I feel pretty confident in saying that it's not up to IH level of quality. Bag smelt of plastic on initial opening, and has stuck with the bag for weeks. The zippers catch all the time, the Brain Cell (laptop protection) was annoying to get in/out and feels of cheap plastic. Most of the hardware feels of cheap plastic. The bag didn't hold up to a light shower; soaking the contents of my bag. The straps are way to freaking long, and I would tread on them at least once-twice a day. The sternum strap felt again, cheap, as well as never properly adjusting to be fully load-balancing/retaining.

                                            Would not recommended.

Wow, that is a real bummer and completely different than my experience with Tom Bihn. The Aeronaut and the Tristsar are my go to bags.
