Inevitably, it seems, after falling in love with my new 634s and BB jeans, I'm considering a IH shirt. I'm debating between the Wabash Western and the Hickory Stripe work shirt. Anyone have both and would like to compare their merits? I'm a little uncertain on size as my measurements hover somewhere between a XXL & a XXXL. This is a bit surprising given that I wear XL in nearly every other shirt I own.

                I'll chip in here.

I personally would go for the Wabash, I simply love the fabric and how it ages.

And time to get some sizing crap off my chest.  There is simply no such thing as a standard XL (or L or XXXL etc etc).  On average Americans are larger than Europeans are larger than Japanese (indeed all Asians).  An XL in any one of these countries reflects what is Extra Large for that populous.  This "no-standard" is further compounded by the western physique getting larger (and by that I really mean fatter) over time, so a todays L is a yesterdays XXL…

                  Thanks for the advice, Giles.

I certainly didn't mean anything by my question about sizing. And, yes, I'm a big guy and perhaps "fat" by some standards, but in reality am very athletic and aerobically very fit. I've completed a dozen marathons in the past 15 years, including the 2013 NYC Marathon. I do have a penchant for beer, which is my downfall. 😉

Get the wabash first.  It's just so damn nice, and it's the only shirt that I've received compliments on from random strangers.

I certainly was not having a go at you , your question just reminded me of one of my pet annoyances…..

For reference, I'm a L or XL here in the USA and XXXL in IH.  But I agree with Giles, there is no consistency in sizing across brands, even here.  I love the fact that IH shows the measurements - more U.S. retailers should do the same, they'd cut down on returns.  The only truth in sizing is the actual measurements… Oh yeah, I'd go for the Waby  😉

Well, the deed is done, Wabash ordered. I'm eager to see what it's like. With summer just beginning to make an appearance here in the NYC metro area, I may not get to wear it too much. I assume it's not a hot weather shirt. On the other hand, my 634s's have felt quite comfy in the mid-70 degree weather - so surprising for heavyweight jeans!

Oh, and thanks for encouraging my newly found addiction to Iron Heart.  😉

Amazing autumn-spring shirt. Not so much a summer shirt in NYC. Such an amazing shirt though, you may still want to try 🙂

Definitely not a hot weather shirt.  The wabash fabric is fantastic, but it is warm.
