I had that sexih07iii, the denim on that was seriously no joke.  Probably the gnarliest denim I've felt before (I don't have a lot of experience though), and even the 526j-od is noticeably more comfortable.  I'd bet the reg 526 would suit you well in the comfort department.

Giles , you are wearing a large in the photos - can you wear a 72 / 86 or other comparable
heavy flannel underneath easily ? Not sure if the L or XL is best for me .

Fit pics to come. This denim is insanely rigid. Killing my arms to bend, wasn't expecting that from this weight. Very nice though
