the set for last night: listen to all Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks records in order of appearance whilst drinking whisky.
the outcome: a heavily indigo stained living room wall (from dancing on the sofa), a partly broken sofa
& the christening of my golden nugget bybeatle shirt  by accidentally sleeping in it.
        but, no hangover, thanks bourbon!

It's pretty good. Definitely a good bottle, but not quite as exciting as the standard stuff available Stateside. It's a lower ABV to appeal to the markets abroad that tax liquor based on proof, so it's only 80 proof. I tried a little neat and decided to add a couple cubes, but I think that was a mistake. I'll try one cube tonight and try to give an actual review. I did a little research when I got back and found that there are a couple other Blanton's available abroad that I'd like to try as well. The cask strength, and the gold label. Yes please.

Interesting. Thank you for your thoughts and info, seawolf. I didn't know they distributed abroad.

Me either, and I found it on sale for about $25 USD! I had to buy it 🙂

It's a big whisky and it has a lot going on. It's pretty smokey on the nose, but it ends up very smooth on the palate. I'll have to drink some tonight and give a more thoughtful review. It looks like I have some homework tonight.

Yes, it is £13,100 for a bottle (about $20K), and according to the shop assistant it's smoother than the regular stuff.

No, I'm not buying it for you…

Lots of dried fruit. Smooth smokiness that fades pretty quickly. Caramel, Vanilla.

Bit of a Malt Whisky nut.

Tried collecting but quickly found a fundamental flaw in my plan,…...............................................most of the "collection" got opened and consumed!

My collection started out as a bit of an excuse to try out more expensive bottles.  In my twisted logic I thought it made sense to buy two exact same expensive bottles, drink one bottle, store the other and sell it later to help subsidise the one you drank.  This works well when you are buying collectable stuff such as Ardbeg's, Macallan, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, etc

This plan worked really well until ebay tightened up on alcohol sales.

                                A few current favorites:

I can highly recommend any of the limited single cask releases from Glendronach.  If you like a heavily sherried dram then these releases are for you.

Bruichladdich Pedro Ximenez released a few years ago now was another heavily sherried dram that offered great value.  I managed to pick up a case before it sold out.

There is no 'I' in team …............ however there are five in 'individual brilliance'.

                                      Hi ddtrash,

I'm more into independent bottling, but I can only confirm your comments about Glendronach. Liked them in the rally days for their standard releases, but some of the special releases in recent years were stunners - still have a few drops left of a 21 year old released by Cadenhead. Should have bought a second bottle for later…
