oh - they are particularly tough since these jeans are like 2 sizes too big and the legs aren't tight anyways..

8 months in (granted not worn every day like Beats) and reckon it'll take about another year to have some decent fades on mine…

I will definitely get the Beatle busters next year. I think there will enough W36 for me till then. If not, i would have to ask Giles to start a "pile" or "stack" for me, and hope he wont mind that i would only get it next year.

Pardon my ignorance (I searched the forum but couldn't find specifics), but is the 19oz denim on these jeans exclusive to the SE collaboration (and the 301s-07BK), or has it also been used on other Iron Heart products?

My understanding is that Iron Heart's flagship denim is 21oz sanforized.  What denim are the Beatle Buster and Devil's Fit being made from?

^devils fit will be 18oz unsan, and i think it also might be the same for the beatle busters too.

first time ever was for the sexih07 - and now the 301sod

Beatle Buster is 21 oz - hopefully the same sanforized denim as the 634s.

Beatle Buster will be made in IH's 21oz flagship denim, indigo and od , plus in Ironhearts new superblack selvage denim designed to fade to gray.

I suppose it would be too soon to have evo comparisons between the 19oz unsanforized and 21oz  (either indigo or overdyed variants).  I've seen beatle and sidneylo's documentation of the SExIH07BK and evo photos of the older BK denim, but I mean a side by side comparison with the same amount of wear (hoping Haraki-san did some experiments or something).

If I recall correctly, I remember kiya saying something about the 19oz denim producing faster and higher contrast fades.

I am still standing by that high contrast fade is achieved by frequent wear, not worrying too much and the tightness of the jeans.

I've seen super contrasty 21 IH's - and some were faded in only 3 or 4 months of wear. Basically the od will be harder to break in - but than again , it's about the ride, not the final destination.

                                In other words - don't compare - just wear…

100% agree with you on this Beats.  If you look at all the pics on this forum, you can see people who absolutely destroyed their jeans in only 3-4 months by wearing them to work everyday.  If you work the jeans aggressively, any pair will fade.  If you just wear them out to dinner, it will take a while.

Out with the new! In with the old!

All other things being equal, a lighter weight denim will produce more contrasty fades.  But in all honesty, there are so many varaiables that affect the end result.

Haraki never does fade experiments.  He designs the denim from the ground up (that includes the selection of the cotton to the weaving and dyeing process), then he lets time take it's course.

He always has an end game in mind  - like "I want this to be super slow fade with eventual mega contrast" - and he usually gets it right.  But he leaves it up to us to discover what really happens.  That's part of the excitement.

Here is another example the black/black selvedge denim he has created for me that we will debut with the BB version of the Beatle Busters is designed to fade to grey with time.  But no one has any idea what the end result will look like.  Personally I cant wait to find out…G

"OK face up to it - you're useless but generally pretty honest and straightforward . . . it's a rare combination of qualities that I have come to admire in you" - Geo 2011

You and me both, Giles. I won't be the one experimenting with it, as I have enough heavy bastards on my plate, but can't wait to see others have a go at them!..

Wow.  Thanks for the responses.  This sure is an active forum!

I didn't expect anyone to be that geeky about the differences in the denim to experiment with them; just thought it would be cool.  Obviously everyone wears their jeans differently, and even the same person wouldn't produce the same fades on different pairs of jeans.

I suppose that the 19oz denim is fairly similar to the 21oz denim then, and will produce lovely classic IH fades.

BTW, thanks Beatle for doing such a wicked job of photographing your jeans.  I hope to wear mine someday as well as you are wearing yours!
