As someone that considers "Sea Change" by Beck to be a top 5 all time record, I encourage anyone to check out his new LP "Morning Phase".  Fantastic stuff, worthy of being called a companion piece to SC.

            Thoughts on the new MBV?

As a big fan of about half of the records you listed, you've given me some discovering to do on the other half.

I was expecting a Chinese Democracy situation but was pleasantly surprised, they really picked up right where they left off.

Beck could record himself pissing on an eight track machine and i would still like it.

My buddy promoted a Bonnie Prince show in my favorite shithouse dive bar for alcoholics in my home town, and saw him twice more in another shithouse dive bar in my college town. Last couple of times have been a bit more civilized. Always great.

Sea Change is devastating. Kind of came out of nowhere for me and reinforced how broad Beck's talents were.

I wholeheartedly agree. Braid is probably my favorite band of all time. They are always phenomenal live.

Has anyone heard the new Creepoid self-titled album from No Idea? It officially drops next week, but the download link arrived in my mailbox earlier today. It's awesome. Their first album, "Horse Heaven," is amazing. I'll wait to pass judgement on which LP is better once the vinyl arrives and I can give it some more critical listening  🙂

My personal favorite Beck song was only on the Japanese Sea Change. It was cut here for being too upbeat. "Ship in a Bottle" is my most played song on iTunes by a large margin.

I saw get up kids open for JEW in early '97 Woodson had just came out. Antarctica (Eric Richter from Christy Front Drive) was the opening act. My friend put the show on we used to be close with Jim Adkins. GUK blew the doors off the stage and JEW almost got booed off the crowd started chanting for GUK to come back out. Eric Richter came out and sang with JEW when they played "Digits" overall it was a great night.
