The idea is I want that knife style, I am just getting to the point where over the top in my taste hasn't happened yet. I had a old redbone Case that was perfect, but those always have a way of walking off. I have a bit of a collection, but nothing that says "my perfect knife" Will check suggestions, maybe I'll find it.

Looking for something more like this, but stepped up a notch

        That is not a lockback

For a production slip joint, I always recommend Great Eastern Cutlery and it's sub brands: Tidioute and Northfield.

I don't really understand what you're looking for. Knife style as in traditional vs modern? Or the blade style? Natural handles? Synthetic? Liner lock? Lockback? Double/single bolsters?

This is a listing of their designs

CR designed the Ti-Lock w/ the Hawk bros.  His knives are nice but there are many manufacturers that do it better then Chris Reeve. I have had every model of CRK. His knives are expensive and for a bit more money you can get a superior custom knife.

One thing from someone who's been around custom knives for awhile: if you have a problem with your knife, the turnaround time varies tremendously from maker to maker. I've had knives some back to me inside of a week. Others, can take six months or longer. Chris Reeve is pretty consistent at a couple weeks

You can pay a little more money and have the satisfaction of a custom knife, but the customer service can be a crapshoot

Yeah. And I know CRK will be there, period. What happens if a custom maker fails, closes up shop, just stops, dies, etc. CRK is here to stay, it's a very successful business. Which is probably one reason they have reliable service, they can afford it.

              Think it, be it.

Very close here, design wise. What is missing is the rounded heel on the Case.

That jigged handle reminds me of the Tony Bose collab slipjoint Case D sold me. The blade is not stainless so you can patina it, great knife.

This exact knife with a red bone handle was my favorite that took a walk. Was confusing knives this one is liner lock.

                    Mclain,

Mine was that red bone in the below knife. Had much more color depth than the trapper

Maybe it´ll fuck the knife up in long term view, but it is so calming and fun…

That pricing is way too high for a factory piece IMO. You could get one of Ohta's hand-made traditional Western custom knives for that kind of loot. Granted, this is a slipjoint and not a lock back, but something like this, for example:
                            https://www.arizonacustomknives.com/Model-108-by-Hiroaki-Ohta-Knives.aspx?ReturnUrl=Hiroaki-Ohta.aspx%3FPage%3D

This site has a number of good custom blades as well, plenty in Damascus.

                            Here's a lockback: http://customknifegallery.com/lee1f.html#fbm

                            And another: http://customknifegallery.com/ricke1f.html#diw
And a framelock I almost bought myself: http://customknifegallery.com/wilmot1f.html#DIW1

I like the more rounded, contour heel. There is a Damascus/Sheephorn listed that is nice on the site, but I don't see anything from Ohta that is quite right. It's a little thing, but that heel makes a difference in feel when skinning small game, or other tasks that take more control at blade tip.

I found a site with killer gyuto and other Japanese steel. Aogami clad with stainless, incredibly thin. In a word, "sploosh."

Chefworks just came out with their Rain line with Ken Onion. Worth taking a look. I bought their 4" chef's knife for Jody for Christmas.
