Ben, the strap doesn't feel high to me, keeps my foot secure

Scotty, I've only slipped once or twice since getting them, wouldn't say I've had problems with the leather. I will be getting them resoled when in Japan later this year. From earlier discussions with someone on here (tat?) the leather sole is both time correct, but also to help enable a rapid breaking-in of the boot. Once it's broken in you get it re-soled with a sole of your choice. That's what I signed up for/into and am happy to go with it. That is exactly what Christophe has done with his own pair, so does seem inline with the intent. (can be seen @ http://www.misterfreedom.com/images/cl_roadchamp_sept2011a60x68.jpg)
The reason I went MF, other than liking the brand, was I really really liked the way the leather evolved over time. JL does have a thread (you are a regular now ;)). A few of here have them, http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5145

davito/Friday, thanks. I love wearing them and go to them as/for my every day shoes, look forward to many years of love.

Snow, I like the high instep strap too, very unique - and love the soft toe and the way the leather is breaking in - but I agree they will get a different sole in the future but I am OK with them as they are until the right time comes.  I did see where Tat did a resole (through Zip Stevenson) and as you noted so did Christophe. (Willie's in LA).  But it's a fact - they are treacherous on ice/snow and you are best off leaving them in the closet in those conditions.  Fortunately I'm "boot-rich" and have been wearing my White's when it's nasty out…

I bought deadstock Cat's Paw half soles for mine but I just can't bring myself to do it. Takeshi's triple sole is so awesome.

For now, these are just to be used when it isn't snowing. I haven't worn them in a while and it will be a while yet before I can. Bummer, but I think it's the right move. When it's time to resole I will consider the Cat's Paws.

          Think it, be it.

I believe the shrinkage was just about what was listed. I forgot to measure, but it definitely shrank down in size. It's a fairly loose fit from the pits down. Very comfortable. I'll try to measure when I get home, but I'd check SE & MF's site to compare.

Hi Summer, how do the Pallidenim's looks whilst wearing jeans? Over the top, or somewhat okay. Starting to try figure out foot-wear for the trip in April. These look like a contender, but have never seen with denim jeans..thanks.

I usually cuff my jeans which breaks it up a bit. I usually pair with 705 or cords. I don't typically wear them with jeans.

I had a pair of the Palladenims and eventually sold them because I didn't like the "all denim from the waist down" look.  I love Palladium boots, though.  Of the 4 pairs I've owned in the last 5 years,  my favorites, and the ones I feel have been the most versatile, are my basic Pampa high boots in khaki.

@davito, million thanks for that. Sunday's post was from 49 weeks back. Deep and honest thanks for digging back that far and pulling out for me. Amazing you remembered it too.

@Chris/Summer, I kinda agree it'll likely be too much denim, especially considering I wear IHC-10+33+(634|Hawaii) already. The MF's saved my brain from thinking about other models, looks like I'll be looking into it - thanks Chris.

No prob. The 7161 was kinda the proto for the md with horsehide pocket later. Also the Md is pretty rare to find nowadays as well

The Junky collabo seems to have some tiny lil diff details compared to the og 7161 like placing of coin pocket
