Unpopular opinions

@Max:
Might be very unpopular, but that's what this thread is for. I am irritated by guys who post a tenth of my whole number of posts over the last 3+years in two weeks.
right there with you Flo!…
Yeah, similarly, I am irritated by the idea that post count means anything at all. If we have labels like "deity", it should be for expertise, experience, and insight rather than hundreds of "Nice fit!" posts.

I won't disagree with the ranking complaints, but that's not my fault. By making a blanket statement just about my post number though, you blatantly have disregarded some of the content of many of my posts. Much of which has been personal. I can't help it I am a disabled father of two with a touch more time to pop in through here. I have tried to take the opportunity to get to know people, support others, and learn about the product. I don't post in every thread, I don't respond to everyone, and I try to weigh if I will be helpful with a post. If you don't want to see me compliment others, ask questions, or post personal information like everyone else, say something to me and I can try to accommodate. But handling it this way was very disrespectful.

Dude, you're not the first exuberant poster and you won't be the last. If I could add anything it's just to say the if you put yourself in the situation of the reader, when you have so much to say, sometimes it can just become white noise and the genuine content of some of your posts can be lost.
I don't reside here half as much as I used to, and I don't drop the dollars that I used to on this gear so my right to comment is perhaps diminished, but this is a great community and when you get into the rhythm of it you'll be fine and dandy. Try going over to some of the other denim-centric boards and posting in volume after just joining and you'll see what real disrespect is though, this place is a nice oasis in a very testosterone fuelled environment.
You just gotta picture this as a bar in an area you just moved to, if you visited for several hours every day and had a lot to say on every subject to every other patron you better believe that some folks might find it irritating, we're all different.
To the older posters I would say please remember Sal (Dirty Denim), no-one posted as often as him and with as much enthusiasm and he was one of the nicest most genuine dudes it has ever been my pleasure to meet…..I miss Sal and some of the other dudes who no longer visit, but things move on.....

It's really not a huge thing, and I understand the rankings. I don't belong with expert by my name period, let alone here. I was simply pointing out that by targeting me for something beyond my control, I felt they were disregarding content, some of which came at great pains to me.
I wouldn't go to a bar with a new guy to my circle of friends, and loudly complain about him because he was new and might have plenty to say to everyone. I might say something if I found a problem with the content, but I would take it up with him. Now picture the new guy is telling you about his kids, and personal trials and it happens. Does said guy want to hang out with you again?
I don't care if the guy is yelling, your not hurting my feelings, but I will not set and take it either

Dude, I'm just giving you my thoughts on stuff, it's up to you if you want to pay any attention to it or not. Personally I have no real issue with you or what you do around here (and you're not the only one who does exactly this btw).
Carry on man, try not to take things too personally.

How about a change of topic?
I'd say a good chunk of the 'fits' posted are too tight. Sure, they look trim and neat the first few months… but we seem to forget darker colors are slimming. As the jeans begin to fade (and shrink a small amount with subsequent washes), they end up looking fairly awful.
Makes me laugh every time an prime example is posted and there are numerous replies on how the fit looks great.

I'd like to address a couple of points, then I'll happily move on to a new topic…
Yeah, similarly, I am irritated by the idea that post count means anything at all. If we have labels like "deity", it should be for expertise, experience, and insight rather than hundreds of "Nice fit!" posts.
The "rankings" have no actual meaning, they're just there as a fun marker. Maybe a year or so ago, we discussed changing them, making them more random, or eliminating them entirely. In the end, we just left them alone because people like them more than they dislike them.
As for the post count, we removed that info from the profiles and replaced it with join date. There was considerable discussion among members about which was a "better" statistic to use, and we made the final decision after allowing a vote on the subject. As I recall, one member felt so strongly about the profiles having post count in them that he deleted his account when we made the change. Neither is a good marker of expertise or insight, really.

Yeah, I miss Sal, too.

will all of you bastards stop agreeing with unpopular opinions.
i like the new whipper-snappers all eager to post. it reminds me of when i 1st started having sex on a regular basis & figured out it's something better done with another person or with someone you are not paying in a seedy part of town. we all find our pace & fall into a sweet spot soon enough (except for mcclain that dude can post . . . j/k i swear, sort of) everything is better with crowd participation . . . well except solitaire.
i've spoken to several earlier forum joiners that state they don't post as much or visit because they don't get the same vibe as when they joined & i get that (& agree), but everything changes be it for better or worse & despite what we think of the current state of affairs this thing should keep growing & changing just like all of us. i mean jeez none of us are the same as when this started . . . except seul. i think he cures himself in spirits & then posts here
be good to each other forum fam-lay aka a bunch of strangers in jap denim, hahahahahhaha
