The fans turn on because that's what adds the wind effect. 😉

Otherwise the snow would simply fall down vertically.

Kidding aside, I will look out for a slimmer library that is not as CPU-intensive.

seawolf: Just press CMD+R, that should force refresh the page.

      Boom. Snow. Thanks shoque!

          @Snowy:

Can we turn the website snow off? Does not play nicely with Laptop CPU's.

Does the snow use up too much CPU?

It takes up 50-60% of a 2Ghz Core i7, which is quite a lot for a little bit of snow.

(And the irony of bitching about snow is not lost on me, don't worry 😃 )

http://www.schillmania.com/projects/snowstorm/ is 'the 1' that's most friendly that I'm aware of. A cookie/option that disables it all together would make me peachy 🙂

                      Yeah I'm still anti-snowy. It's better @ detecting on.mouse events, but still eats a fair chunk (50%).

                        Question:

could PMs possibly show whole conversations between you and a member?.. Not just the one/ most recent PM?.. Say you PM back and forth, and wanna check a prior response or PM, you can just scroll up to the original PM instead of going through pages of PMs to look for the OG one…

                          Agreed. That would be fantastic.

So in short: drop down PM structure…

Fiddling with it - doesn't really do what I'm talking about though…

Edit: it actually kinda does... So go to your PMs, click "Preferences", "Change Settings", then click the "As conversation" option under the "Display PM" dropbox...

Not sure if any/many of you have heard of Heartbleed the SSL bug that's been rated an 11 out of 10 for it's impact for the internet security. Anyhow, I have tested this website and our data is not exposed to the bug. I've not reached out to Shoque to ask if he's patched for it, or if we are running different/better code, but either way, we are not exposed, our data is safe against this one.

info on Heartbleed from a respected new site; http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-26969629

Thanks Snowy, I already checked that a few days ago. As we are on CentOS 5 we don't use an OpenSSL version with heartbeat extension. (0.9.8e)

I didn't think we should have announced that publicly as we are not affected because that will still cause some concern amongst the forum and customer base.

I had a very strong feeling you'd have already checked and or patched. If we were vulnerable rest assured that you'd of received an e-mail :).

I felt it was worth letting the community/forum users know as there's a chance they might hear about it in coming days. I agree that it doesn't need to be broadcast on the shopfront 🙂
