I'm all for blue thread.  I like how the gold hem looks in that pic as well but its hard to say without seeing the setup as a whole. Just gold on the hem with blue everywhere else might look a bit weird.  Pulling a page from Roy's book with some black thread on blue fabric could be interesting.

        g,

is it possible to dye some thread indigo to match? just dunk the whole spool?

could be cool and lead to whitening – presuming the thread will absorb the dye.

            @Giles:

I'm looking at some thread samples stitched onto pockets today.  The threads on the sample we made were too bright and looked a bit True Religiony, we are trying to mute it down, if that does not work we will revert to blue thread

I like the idea of a toned-down browny-orange thread. It seems that just about all indigo/indigo jeans have blue threads, so it would be nice to make these a bit different.

Having said that, stealth arcs all the way!

This unsolicited opinion comes free of charge.  😛

I also think blue thread would look the best. Looks great on my SEXIHXLSXA13's and PBJ xx-007's. I'd be curious to see what black stitching would look like once the jeans had faded, could be interesting… but I still say blue.

The first run will not use blue constructional threads.  I spent a long time discussing this with Haraki and Tom today.  Haraki's view is that anyone can make a pair of blue jeans look good if they are stitched in blue as it does not matter how shit the stitching is, it can't be seen.  Our stitching is good and that is important to him.  Tom's suggestion is that we use the same constructional thread as we use on the 634S, not the thicker thread we use on some of the more recent jeans, this will tome down the contrast.  I'll also one was the jean, which gives a little indigo bleed into the constructional threads…I have a pair here with one pocket stitched in blue and one stitched in yellow/orange.  I'll post pics soon.

On production we will reduce the gauge of the thread and we also one-wash "dirty" the thread up a bit.

Only because we were trying to work out what constructional threads to use….

                              Ah,
                              Looks cool none the less…
If you're wanting to get rid of that sample with the practise arcs let me know 😉
I personally think it looks awesome.

Im guessing that it means it will take longer to wear them down, which is good.

Possibly, but we are going to use the same gauge threads as the IH-634s and we don't have a lot of trouble with them….

This is just my opinion.  I like the look of the blue stitching better because it's different.  With the normal yellow/orange it looks like the same old.  If you're gonna go indigo/indigo why not make it even more unique and do blue or indigo stitching.  I like the idea that it will fade differently with all the above applied.

When you see these up close im assuming they will be completely different from same old!
