Wow T&A! You pretty much nailed it! Thanks for digging that up. I'm bookmarking that for sure.

I had a similar search for a leather jacket at one point until I discovered Aero. I tried to build a perfect leather jacket with them that would be as versatile as possible, but in the end, I'd still like another jacket that fits me a little differently and works for different occasions. There is no "perfect" anything.

I decided to go with the Best Made Dehen sweater that I linked above. I've been searching for the "perfect" sweater for years, and the fact is, I'm never going to find it (Although T&A came damn close!). I concluded yesterday that I'm after perfection, and that doesn't really exist. The best I can do is find a piece that makes me happy for what it is. I was given a great wool zip cardigan for a birthday present about 13 years ago, and I wore it all the time. I wore it out, and I have been trying to fill that void ever since. I think I was hanging onto this idea of what this sweater should be. I don't dress like a 21 year old anymore and trying to replace a sweater that I wore at that age doesn't really make sense.

The Best Made X Dehen Shawl neck sweater coat is insanely robust. It's got hidden elbow patches, it weighs over 3 lbs, it's 100% wool, it's made in USA, and I think it looks nice. I'll post some fit pics soon.  It's not perfect, but it's close enough and I like it 🙂

      Thanks for your help gents!

Me too. I didn't pull the trigger when it first came out last year because the measurements didn't work for me. The sleeves were too short on paper. In actuality, the sleeves are just right. I'm not sure they know how to measure, or maybe they do it a little differently than I do.

When we were in NY for the SENY party last year, I tried on the full length Shawl Neck Sweater Coat at Palmer Trading Co.

It's a beast! I'm glad I didn't buy it because I really like the Best Made version a lot better.

RE: My new sweater… When my wife came home the other day, I had just tried it on right before she got home. Her  first words when she walked in the door were "Hey Gramps!"

Thanks guys. It generally fits a lot better than the picture would have you believe. Also, the wool is so damn thick and stiff, it bunches up in some weird places. I'm certain that once it breaks in, it'll settle out though. I feel crazy talking about a sweater breaking in, but it's that heavy. I would highly recommend getting familiar with Dehen's products. Top-notch stuff!
