Time for some repair work, not sure if i am a fan of cotton thread ,  it is hard enough telling people you are in a jean comp for 2 years and your jeans cost over £200 let alone saying if i hadnt done repairs they would be in parts.  😉

really like those jeans. can we get a fit picture.  train track split selvage back pockets are dope & look great with wear, might go on the look out for a cheap pair. . .

Yeah, I hate cotton thread.  I understand that some companies like the vintage vibe it gives a worn pair, but I hate doing repair work.  And there's something about jeans that cost $300 falling apart before they're even faded that eats at my soul.

cotton threads were traditionally used with denim fabric that weighed about 8.5 - 12oz …this relatively thin denim was also a lot softer and therefore the cotton threads used for sewing would be sufficient. If you use heavier denim cotton threads simply will get so much strain and abrasion that they will fall apart...ergo a poly core thread is the only thing that will do the job

I think it also has to do with the cut/fit. My current 500XX has no loose or ripped thread yet, and I'm wearing it pretty hard. Samurais are definitely no jeans that you have to stitch every two weeks, but some damages might occur. i can live with that, but would prefer poly threads. The worst were my Momotaros, and they only had 15,7 oz.

Interesting point about fit, Max.  I had the exact opposite brand experience- my Samurais required multiple repairs in several spots, my Momotaros haven't broken a single stitch yet.  But my Samurai jeans were a very slim fit and my Momotaro jeans are a relaxed fit.  So there's definitely more to it than just the thread or the company making the jeans.
