IH-531 - Wabash Chore Jacket
-
Got a medium in Beige here if anyone is interested…...
Here ya go Zats! I'm thinking this would fit like a L in a wabby. G would have to confirm though..
Cheers for the suggestion/confirmation SS/G.! You're most probably right about the duck sizing. Thought long and hard and finally decided to hold out for the Award jacker instead: I figured it also comes in the same kickass Beige duck, has the advantage of inner lining for warmth and is altogther a completely different beast. Meanwhile, the wabby gets to have its fair share of wear: I've been rocking it to work almost on a daily basis already and I'm already seeing awesome signs of Evo - This baby fades much faster than I 'd expected
Can't wait to see how it'll look like come end of season
Did you find the right size for you in 532?
-
They are still coming mate. Going the L. L should be ok. I'm a die hard chore coat fan, so getting the right size in these is important (hahaa, I'm so serious) for me. These are some of the best made yet!! Fucking luv em!!
-
I hear you mate, fit is everything. My 531 L is the right size in the chest, shoulders and sleeve length. Any smaller and I would feel it pushing back with anything but a T. My only grip is that the arms look too wide around the elbow area. But then again this is my first chore jacket -maybe it's meant to look that way? Is yours similar?
The other thing I noticed is that the chest pockets are placed an inch lower than usual on IH shirt but I think this one is by design ::) -
Yeah, they are cut that way. It's because they are chore jackets I guess. I had a few Lee ones that were a bit looser TBH. I think the IH version is more refined, but I agree, it could do with a little more tightening in the whole arm.
Be good to see if H ever cooks up another version. Preferably even a lined version. He's done it before. Loved the pleated back shoulder versions.. They rocked with iron balls!! Perhaps a 19oz one day (G and H hear my prayers(sending Jedi mind voodoo)).

AMEN TO THAT
Heavier Wabash/Duck + flanel lining + shoulder blades = Chore JACKPOT
I'd be all over it (might even get two if colors are available)
…and judging from the IH-530 and IH-534 threads, it seems were not alone in this sentiment.. I'm optimistic -
Hahaa! Me too homie!

Opened my blue bag finally… One of the items was a M 531. Initially I thought a M would be too large for me, but as the S had all sold out last year and I missed the 530 (with the much loved OG Wabash) I went with the M so I didn't miss out for a second year running. Well, having tried it on, I'm glad I went with the M. The sleeves might be a tad too long (not really noticeable with the cuffs closed) but the other measurements are great. And don't get me started on those buttons :D. Pics tomorrow or Sunday. I don't trust myself around complex machinery at the moment.

At this point there was a knock at the door…
Now my local Postwoman thinks I'm mad. It was all over her face and especially in the incredibly nervous smile she gave me. "Clearly" she thought, "I'd best humour this mad bastard who takes photos of himself in his front room, I'll take pity and smile at him"...
Now onto the jacket:
It's a M, which is slightly too large for me. With the sleeves cuffed on the shortest buttons, it doesn't show too much. And when the jacket is closed, it gives a much more fitted look. But seeing as how all the S sizes were sold out last year (too much pondering on my part) I'll make it work.
The material: When the "new" Wabash replaced the "old" I was distraught. How dare something be changed that I loved. I'd never a product in this upstart fabric... This is now the 3rd piece I own. I now understand that the original fabric was just a trial run of sorts and (please correct me if I'm wrong) Haraki-san's vision of what he wanted the IH Wabash to be has now been significantly advanced in this "new" iteration.
Having worn this jacket pretty much constantly since it arrived, it's made me see the difference in colour in a new light. At first I preferred the lighter shade and the khaki dots as a "dirtier" example of what could be done with Wabash. Now I see what has been done with a "cleaner" look and it's absolutely fantastic.
I hope I don't stop questioning certain decisions made by Iron Heart in regards to future products either privately or publicly on this forum (and to a lesser extent when I meet up with other fans), but as far as the Wabash is concerned I will never again moan about the differences between the "old" and "new" style fabric. I
it all and as soon as I can I'll be adding a fourth piece... (I really don't think I could rock the overalls otherwise there'd be a fifth piece as well).
Sorry to turn a couple of pics and a review into a huge ramble... Mods, please edit as you see fit.
PS. This now my second favourite jacket, I'll be wearing it until my hands turn a complementary shade of blue.

Hey thanks a lot taa, I hope you find one!! it's a killer coat!
Finn, I agree! I couldn't be happier with the fit, I was hoping it wouldn't be a huge square wabash box with sleeves, and it isn't! really glad I went for it.
Scotty it was actually your fit pics that pushed me over the edge, so cheers to you
