HEAVYWEIGHT BOOTS CHAMPIONSHIP 2013 - 2015
-
God, has it been a while. Time for an update. Apologies on the lack of…anything. Been a hectic few months working graveyard and seeing the sun in only spurts. Being a freightworker has its perks, though. All the guys I work with are constantly amazed that I don't come limping out every morning. Custom made, says I.

A single update picture of my 16-inch, longer-than-your-dick, heaviest-weight boots. The NatCXL is darkening up a ton, and the Harvest Roughout takes a beating like a champ. Next step is going to be a good cleaning, followed by a little conditioner for the uppers and a good thorough dubbing for the lowers, so that I can watch them wear back to roughout and see that contrast take shape.

I posted about going on a hike on the HWDC2 thread. Here's the aftermath: And here's a video of what a good obenauf's treatment does:

Xpost from WL thread: TOW [tug of war] model in reverse kip butt. they're built tough really & not easy to break in. 'my entry for the HBC challenge, as it turned out, became [my] personal challenge. i have not posted anything with regards to [my entry] boots on HBC except the initial post cuz i was having 2nd thoughts about the boots. i almost gave up when they developed an annoying squeak [on the outside side seam], on both. 'wondered if [this] was just a normal "stage" of the break in process, or maybe the choice in leather &/or model … or prolly i just gotta accept i might have gotten a lemon, plain & simple thought it might be damaging to WL to post my experience w/o checking with them 1st, so i emailed WL a couple of times. ... but, queries were ignored. 'almost gave up if it weren't for the advice of simonc & michaeljcr. thanx for the heads up guys! fast forward: after 6mos = 3mos effective wear, the squeak is suddenly gone. "farting", as simonc's son described it, was just a break in "stage", indeed … at least for [these] kind of boot build, i suppose. the "farting stage" is finally over, TG! the leather has softened quite a bit & the triple sole is giving some flex. with the "Superfeet" half-insoles, the wearing experience have greatly improved. i've been wearing them a lot more lately. After 6mos = 3mos effective wear

HWB-82 Viberg 1950s time for an update. Been wearing these boots at least 2-3 times a week. Been giving them a brush and a wipe down when I think they need it. I have been doing some spot treatment with heavy duty LP, I have given them a light coat all over a few weeks ago. I want to let them dry out and have the grain age and crack a little but don’t want to ruin them. I have been in a few place most recently in “up there store” in Melbourne and the shop owner says “are they vibergs” “fuck yeah they are!”
