Cowboy boots

Best bet is probably going to be Cavender's. They have multiple locations across the city, so you probably won't have to go far to find one. Selection is good and the staff is usually pretty solid, too. February is a good time to boot shop; the Rodeo starts up on the 25th, so all the stores get fully stocked. It's like cowboy Christmas. Brown full quill ostrich should be ready to find, too- very popular combo.
Where you going to be, Katy?
And I'll try to get some fit pics up in the next couple of days, Zach.

Oh, and I almost forgot- great pair you picked up, BK. Love the toe on them. M.L. Leddy makes really excellent boots; I've always thought their styling and color usage is really classic.

Thanks Chris!
The Larry Mahan's look ok and not too pricey, pity the Lucchese aren't in the sale. I prefer the look of the regular toe more than the square toe, although there seems to be less choice in that style.I'll be based around the George Bush park area, so looks like there's a couple of Cavender's that I could get to fairly easily.

thanks JSJ and Chris. and Chris, one day I'd like to get a custom made pair and you'll be the guy I reach out to for advice…

Whenever you're ready, I'm here.

I'm in San Antonio for the World Science Fiction Convention and just got these Lucchese Black Cherry dress boots at Paris Hatters. Awesome service, really comfy out of the box. Better pictures later…

While you're in SA, if you want to get measured for some killer custom boots check out Little's, excellent cobbler.

I'm really pleased with them. I don't have much free time, I'm here for work and heading out to NYC tomorrow, but if I'm back this way I'll go to Little's for sure.

Yep–forgot to include, those are totally badass... Love the toes.

Those are stunning boots. I'm road-tripping cross-country via the southern route in January or February, and I plan to stop in Austin but now I may have to make it up to San Antonio to look for some boots. The funny thing is, I lived in San Antonio for 8 weeks about 10 years ago. If only I knew….

Been meaning to post these for a while, but didn't dump the pics into my Photobucket account until today. These are my newest acquisition- custom built by Dave Wheeler, one of the finest bootmakers in business today.

Hand hammered steel shank arch support in the instep attached with two rows of wood pegs on each side
Varigated stitching done on vintage single needle machine, one row at a time
Lovely shrunken shoulder bullhide
Fully lined with a reinforced heel slide
Really, really happy with them…
Damn chris, I love these

Just got a pair of Tony Lama Java Conquistador Shoulder 7951. I wanted something with a rubber sole for the rainy days here in the UK, and they seem great. A bit wider than my Lucchese boots in the same size, 10EE, but fine. I want to wear a thicker sock with them anyway.
That's a small football in the shot as well. I'm not a giant…

They're great - love the toe in particular, and the contrast of colours top and bottom. Really nice tan brown as well.
