      @Bluegrass:

      I like these a lot.

      and these.

That's one thing that kills me (on the second boot), Wesco and Viberg both do this: fake roller buckles.  Either make it a roller buckle, or make it not a roller buckle.  Those Santa Rosas have no roller and instead are clean and thin.  I still prefer a roller to that, but at least they own that it's a regular buckle.  And it has a clean aesthetic, I respect that. The pebble grain throws me a loop, I can't decide if I like it–but it's at least unique and interesting.  A cool boot for sure.

Absolutely LOVE the first one, full stop.

      Think it, be it.

I purchased the Santa Rosa's directly from the Hollywood Trading Company. I'm ok with the buckles, they have grown on me and I like that the details on these boots are what make these different from the rest, the shield logo incorporated into the vamp, the quad stitching on the heel counter, the shield logo on the stitching for the top straps, the brass riveted sole, billrite instead of the usual cat's paw, and the simple buckles. all comes together for a really good looking boot. I do love the other engineers posted and am hoping to purchase another pair in the future, those lofgren's and road champs are too beautiful to pass up.

Agree on the black pebble - "unique/interesting" - but in the final stretch I know I wouldn't go there for my 1 pair of engineers… I think a very basic PT in black oil is pretty nice.

Looking at the HTC SR's, appears they are rare, hard to find as well.  Love the look from the front, above the strap.  Also the ACE is growing on me the more I look and relook at it.

Anybody own some blundstones on here?? I don't think I've seen a pair of 500 or 550's yet. Nothing crazy priced but they are comfortable

Yeah, that's nuts the way they stitched that vamp, though it would never be visible for me, under my jeans.  Love the quadruple stitching too.  Really nice boots, my favorite of the bulbous toe variety by far.

Hollywood Trading Company makes those. Wasn't there an historical Santa Rosa boot maker though?

Yep the old Santa Rosas utilized some type of "3m" ish reflective materia, at least the ones ive seen, but not to be confused with the night riders which are also amazing

was a bit of searching and emails trying to track them down but Zip was supper cool and took time out to talk to me on the phone and go over what i was looking for in terms of color scheme. I was blown away to just talk to someone I respected
@ bluegrass once i spec'ed the boss' how i wanted them they were around $700 not including tax, shipping etc. then you add on top of that vintage details that come on the Road Champs, Santa Rosa's and Ace Boots the price difference is not that great. I heard Self Edge is going to carry ace boots and the engineer is right around $750, no taxes in Oregon and if they do free shipping on shoe orders then this is a great deal for those boots.

I am thinking hard about custom Wesco patrol toes in black fire or black pebble,

I don't think the pebble grain would look good in that style.  The black fire is supposed to age really well, though.

Thx guys - I agree the high-end vintage boots are special - if I could get my hands on some in my size I might jump in - will be watching the Self Edge situation carefully.  And Chris, agree if I go w/ wesco, the black pebble is too trendy - the black fire is a no-brainer, and only ~$30 upcharge I think.  You can def. run the price up fast on the Boss.

Don't I know it. I've built a ton of em on their site. Love Wesco. That build tat got from those minnesota boys on ebay is sick too.

did you say you visited the muskhaven boys? do they have a showroom?  as i recall they deal in an eclectic mix of goods, like razors and boots.

I was gonna, but Lofgren sucked me in. They aren't really a brick and mortar, it's a barber and some other dude who sell wet shaving shit and boots. Nice nice dudes.

Have I mentioned I love these fucking boots?

The musk haven guys are super nice and great to work with. I would definetly buy that boot again if I had to redo it. It is built like a tank, perfect fit and attention to detail. The buckles are very heavy duty but unfortunately they are pretty much a harness buckle with a roller added, at least looks like it IMO. I just like the traditional heavy duty roller buckles but certainly wouldn't let it dictate my purchase as they are easily changed… And honestly I'm in no rush to change them but will do when they are resoled.

And I promise I will put pictures up.. I know I have said it and I will... I'm just a procrastinator.
