Thrift Store Scores

Very strange to me that they would resurrect a workwear brand 15 years later as a women's clothing shop. Like the link mentions, most people that buy their current stuff probably have no idea of the clothing behind the namesake. So what's the point?
The name even sounds like a workwear brand -
No idea about the history of the brand, but these days Madewell is definitely a women's only subsidiary of JCrew. My wife has dragged me there several times. I've seen more of that store than any man should have to.
EDIT: the stores do sort of have a vintage-y feel to them, but the clothes are typical J Crew stuff. Definitely no connection to the heritage of the name.

Happens all the time though. Carter's became children's clothes as did osh kosh. The name gets bought and the brand changes. If anything it makes it more fun to go find the old stuff!

Riff, your haul was awesome. Those blanket lined jackets your size? Need to grab something like that!
-
what size are you thomas? the madewell fits me perfect, its a 38. the carter's has been sold though.
-
Well my suit size is 40. Large in most IH shirts. Think I found something similar for a good price that I might be into.
I am just always suprised and jealous of your finds. But, I guess location is the big factor here.

looks like i'm the same size as you. i left behind a deadstock 70's blanket lined denim carhartt chore complete with pocket flashers. size 38. it fit me but the sleeves were a tad short. there were also more 70's duck carhartts. pm me if youre interested.

Geez man that is some beautiful stuff! All of our thrift stores carry old off brand Chinese made crap. The thrill of the hunt though is still there.

Just scored these Irish Setter 877 boots. 9.5d. They are in great condition. Hardly any sole wear. The label and stamping dates them probably late 70's/early 80's.

Some better photos for any vintage red wing fans. These are up for grabs.
