I really like those. Probably what I would choose for my own build.

Jeez what a difference the right socks make.  Got some wigwams for the new bounty hunters and it is going to make the break-in process muuuuch more pleasant.

13+ weeks to get em but hot damn I like em.  Didn't realize it was going to be like walking on wooden planks at first… but can't wait to tame these beasts

(They're not this red, will try and take better pics later just snapped a couple before work)

Also, should I go kiltie or no kiltie?!?

Those look awesome! What's the full spec list on them?

Thanks man! Always nice to hear, especially from such a boot aficionado!  Just starting to work them in (the hot weather has limited wearing opportunities, but my ankles have been spared a bit at the same time)

Baker's Custom Bounty Hunter by White's Boots
Counter Leather Red Dog Oiled, Celastic Toe Box Single Celastic Toe, Height 6", Midsole Single, Heel Base 90 Degree Blocked off Heel (Traveler), Last Semi Dress (Bounty Hunter), Steel Toe No Thanks, Upper (Shaft) Leather Red Dog Oiled, Toe Cap No Thanks, Toe Vamp Leather Red Dog Oiled, Top Rolled Top, Hardware Brass Eyes & Hooks, Leather Liner Red, Pull Loops Leather Pull Loops, Size - Width E, Lace Design Lace to Toe, Sole Vibram 700, Edge Natural, Heel Lifts Standard, Size - Length 10

Honestly, not sure if it ended up being a regular or close trim - as they were having a hard time with the sole because of the E width and said they were going to change it but you can make out a double switch.

Will try and find my camera for some more detailed pics.

Happy for you Tiger, finally got your boots after such a long wait… Hard to tell but it "looks like" regular trim (double stitched).  Love the red dog.  I'm not usually a fan of false tongues but depends on the boot - I kind of like it with some lace-to-toe builds.  You should post some pics with both.

8" black dress Bounty Hunter with double midsole, commando sole and 1/4" lowered heel
                    vs.
6" black dress Bounty Hunter with double midsole, vibram 430 mini lug and standard heel

I need some badass shitkickers for Winter  😛

I like Option 2… unless you need it for work, 8" is just extra weight - and lowered heel combined with double sole sounds risky - it might work, but why take a chance with $500 boots that take 2-3 months to build? Option 2 is a no-brainer imo.  plenty good for shit-kicking esp. with the double sole.

Thanks bros. Due to my boot habit (ahem, I have a problem) the #8 Burgundy's don't have enough wear to make for an interesting pic. When they do, I will surely post.

Also, I have a pair of Semi-Dress in Brown Bison leather coming. That should be interesting – I'll also post those pics when they arrive. In addition (!) I've started to experiment with the White's "Classic Workboot" with another #8 Chromeexcel on order that's going to be VERY interesting. They are basically going to match/emulate these Horseman Joe boots from the Red Wing Euro blog which blew me away:

                      http://redwing1905.blogspot.com/2013/04/thegracyboys.html

Will post those shots when they come (8-10 weeks at the moment).

Well the boots are in, boys, and they turned out great. Have a look (btw, I requested no White's logo stamp and they obliged):

I wouldn't say dress is the toughest you can buy JCM, it's just that it wears nicely over time. Most of the leathers on offer are tough and varying but pretty heavy weight. Quite a few of the other leathers may spot and scuff (whi still polish up nicely) easier than the likes of dress and french calf leather for example, which are less pourus.

it seems most cobblers don't have the tools and/or knowledge to resole a regular pair of White's because of the double stitching through the outersoles. I've noticed the 'close trim' option only has one stitch going through the welt and outer sole. Does this mean the close trim is in fact a regular goodyear stitch and thus easily resoled by cobblers?
