You can use any normal leather care product for bullhide.  Personally, I use Bick 4 on all my leather goods, including my boots made with bullhide.

The only cautionary note I would add to bull hide is that because it is made from older animals it can be a little more brittle (despite its tough appearance), so don't let it dry out too much between greases/ oiling.

Valid point.  I've noticed that the pebbly texture bull hide is a tad drier than the wrinkly texture (aka shrunken shoulder) bull hide that White's seems to prefer.  I prefer the shrunken shoulder, too, it should be said.

Wow, re: Leej's boots - REALLY NICE!! Love the Aztec bullhide - and wasn't previously a big fan of the NW but I've officially changed my mind seeing this build.  Thanks for sharing…

@Chris: So you mean to say I can remove the grease/dirt marks with a damp cloth + some soap and water then leave them to dry and oil them again?

@Megatron: Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I noticed too that Bullhide doesn't seem to be as tough as the other leather choices that white's offer and the leather finish on my RedWings seem to hold up better against abuse such as scuffs, dirt, creases or scratches.

@Bluegrass: Thanks for the compliment. I was wondering if White's make these boots with the white coloured Vibram morflex soles. Would probably look great too in that configuration.

I keep preaching the gospel that if people want a tough leather for their boots, which still gives you the versatility to polish it up, and breaks in really nice, you cannot go wrong with dress leather.

Completely agree on the Dress Leather front, it's just a bit limiting in colour options. There are also an array of colours in some pretty tough and easier to keep up leathers available, voyager is a particularly tough alternative to bullhide. More dense grain but similar.

For polishing/ protecting, something as basic as kiwi in a matching colour won't darken or stain lighter leather (not rough out's) and protects well, also give them a spray from a distance with a high quality protector.

there's gotta be someone in the UK who can glue a vibram sole properly, right?  I mean, it just seems llike it could get expensive just to send them back to White's for a sole only.  I guess your history with shoe repair isnt the best tho, so do what you need to.  When my oxfords need a resole, Im gonna slap a christy on them.

Mega, I'm a pretty fussy bugger about sole finishes and Rich/ Shoe Healer did a very nice job on a pair of my trickers.

Quoted me £80 to swap the sole to a new Vibram Moreflex…. Seems a bit steep.

I know the Moreflex is generally a bit more expensive/ lower quantities available (according to Whites) but it does seem a bit steep. I had my Trickers resoled with a stitched Dainite and it cost £60 a year or so ago, return shipping included.

Maybe get the sole online and take it to a cobbler? Could get you a set from White's (sure Kyle would also sort you out) but might be a short wait until they woul get sent with a ready order.

                                        Happy shopping.
