Momotaro

There's an interesting story about Momotaro/JB (although it's a bit old now) on the Nordic Denim blog. http://www.nordicdenimhouse.com/blog/2011/01/momotaro-by-japan-blue/#more-3897 It doesn't answer all the questions but is well thought out and written.

I would bypass the 'entry-level' product and go straight to the good stuff. The JB jeans may be $100 cheaper but I suspect that you'll ultimately be happier if you save your money and buy from the Momotaro vintage or GTB line instead. I always think that it's much harder to forget how much money you spent on a poorer quality or compromised purchase than if you spent more on a better product.

^Very true. Exactly my opinion. Whenever I settled for second best to satisfy my urgent "needs" I regretted not being patient afterwards. Taavi's article also hits the nail.

unsanforized denim.
be care. look at the thighs. yours and the 701´s one.
the 701 is "agressive" at this part + has low rise. and will shrink seriously after the first washing machine.
this denim do not stretch so much after that. really not. 1" a max. at the waist.
i support u a lot to not size down with these.
 cheers.

You might find this measurement table useful, as it contains one-wash measurements for the 201. http://www.nordicdenimhouse.com/index.php?target=pages&page_id=fit_guide#vintage

^on www.and-japan.com you can find good measurement charts. ^^^I would go with your usual size in the 0201 cut.

I found this site Okayama Denim that is selling a good range of Momotaro and Japan Blue stuff direct from Japan. Good descriptions and sizing info, worth checking out!

i just received my 0201s. unfortunately the measurements shown by and-japan.com differ from the actual measurements.
 I'm very tall (6'7" / 201cm) - basically it's all about the inseams! I need every cm!0201 W36
 pre-soak measurements and-japan: 39,5" / 100cm
pre-soak taken by me last evening: 38,5" / 97,8 cm
 post-soak measuremants taken this morning: 36,2" / 92cmi didn't take the pre-soak measurements in waist… i guess there's shrinkage about 1,5" after a soak.
I'm a tagged 36" (~215 lbs/ 98kg). It was definitately the right decision to purchase the jeans in 36!THe fit is great! I comparison to other pics i've seen in this thread the fit of my 0201s is more on the "Slim-Fit" side than expected. I was kind of shocked when i took the post-soak measurements. basically 36" inseam means "no cuff" but in this case I think i can go for an at least 1" cuff if i want to!

I like how the leg part is getting hairy.maybe cause there's less contact there unlike my thighs.
