Haraki soaks and then washes inside out in warm water.  I soak in hot water and agitate a lot, then hang dry.

Do you soak inside out, or does it matter?

Good to know sir. Do you just agitate for a few minutes here and there?

I just sort of shake them in the water for a minute or so.

no need to turn them inside out when "just" soaking (in a tub, sink, etc.)…the inside out thing is just important if you give them a real wash, so that you prevent the denim from getting weird stripes from the jeans "rubbing" against the drum and all!

Very helpful, thanks - makes total sense - I never understood why a lot of jeans makers say to turn them inside out…

🙂 Well, I guess the bulge wasn't all in my head after all…

I think it's a combination of the sizing up, the thighs being a bit tighter than the top block, and the fact that I had the jeans folded in my closed for a while (which contributed to the main crease).

Probably not too much more shrinking to be had, as I went with my usual method of 30 minute hot soak, replace with new hot water, 30 more minutes, then a quick hot wash on the gentle cycle for agitation.  I also don't expect too much stretch in the waist/bulge area, since there won't be pressure there.  Hopefully the thighs will loosen up a bit, and the issue will go away (at least somewhat).  I would not want to misrepresent myself to any young ladies who might happen to be staring at my crotch.

As the denim moulds to your body shape, the bulge (much to the disappointment of your lady friends) will become a lot less apparent….

Quick question for people who have faded IH-666S, did you get intense vertical fades on your pair?  My pair of IH-634SV (in the same denim) has amazing vertical fading occurring on the thighs. I was wondering because I know the 18oz ran out, as these were being finished, so I'm thinking that the fabric may be a little irregular due to it being near the end of the roll. I even have an ONI type Slub above my right knee. I really love this fabric.

Yes Mike this fabric is amazing. Those vertical fades are starting to show on mine. The thighs especially.

Not intense as mine's not that faded yet but they're showing up after my 2nd wash.

Your making the right decision Eli.  As for the rise, it won't shrink much, especially the rear rise. My vulcans have actually stretched about 0.3", from pre-soak sizing.  And please give these a chance, you can't make a decision on them, until you have at least worn them for 2-3 months.  Mine just came into their own, with about 3 months actual wear on them. Enjoy!!!!

PS I told Seul that I'm a hick and proud of it. So he calls me Hick or Hicks now. FYI, if I'm a hick, my dad is an OG Hick.

And yeah: I've fondled the 18 oz denim before on a pair of IHxB01 RAWs... Intruiged ever since... But neither Busters nor the Vulcans are 100 % my kinda fit... So yeah: I'll give these a go...  🙂

You will get more shrinkage if you place in hot water with some sort of lubricant and agitate the hell out of them.  You are trying to reduce the frictions between the warp and weft yarns as much a possible.

I totally get what you mean (I think)…. I'm gonna try that, as I've not washed my IH-666S yet. What kind of lubricant do you use to reduce the friction? Do you literally mean 'lube'? pictures Beavis and Butthead giggling or just something to get between the yarns, like Woolite..??
