18.9%?!?!  Does that still even qualify as beer?  Was it any good?

It looked like a regular dark beer, but tasted like mulled wine. Reminded me of being a student, when a couple of pints of cheap red wine was how we started an evening.

Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking – greatest bang for the buck.  I would have tried it, given the opportunity.  The use of jasmine is especially intriguing, as I am a big fan of jasmine tea.  I suppose that's why it's called the "Tokyo."  How strong was the cranberry flavor?  I imagine that a stronger-flavor had to be introduced to balance the subtle flavors of jasmine and oak chips, with the alcohol.  Interesting stuff, though.  Thanks, Mega.

It was a reasonably fruity beverage, which I guessed was more than likely the cranberry. It wasn't unpleasant, but it also was not something I could have casually drank all night. After drinking one of these, and a second beer (who's name was something like "Hello, my name is…."), I certainly had a respectable sway going on. The second beer was a mere 9.9% if I remember correctly.

Here are some past Brewdog specials of a ridiculous nature.....

Tactical Nuclear Penguin (32% ABV) - at the time, the strongest beer ever produced in a competition with German brewer Schorschbräu

Sink The Bismarck! (41% ABV) - at the time, the strongest beer ever produced. A quadruple IPA

The End of History (55% ABV) - the beer formerly known as "the world's strongest beer". Only 12 bottles released and packaged inside stuffed squirrels and stoats

They had a bottle of the last one behind the bar last night, it was indeed in a stuffed squirrel, and was priced at £999.99

^Thanks for this, Mega.  I watched all of the videos.  How could you not support these guys?  They're destroying boundaries, and having a blast doing it.  My only disappointment is that their accents aren't nearly as thick as in TRAINSPOTTING.

The Brewdog pubs are great, really cool atmosphere, people just chatting and enjoying their beer. They have a ton of board games laying around for people to use, Playstation 2's and SNES set up for use, and the staff all really know their products.

After literally years of searching, I now have a reason to recommend visiting the UK to foreign tourists.

Sounds really cool, and reminds me a bit of the brewery I used to work for:

                      http://paradisecreekbrewery.com/

I was with them when they first started, and now live a couple states away.  They have just started distributing on the Best Coast; but, hopefully, continue to grow, nationally.  They have a really cool atmosphere, as well.  The brewery is located in a renovated Post Office, that was built in the 1930's (extremely old by Washington State standards).  It has a giant movie theater screen for games (matches), huge movie theater surround, darts, pool, old-school arcade games, board games, etc..

It's located in the extremely-tiny town of my alma mater (~30k people; ~27k of which are University Students); so, as you can imagine, it's a pretty fun atmosphere.  They aren't doing anything nearly as interesting, from a brewing perspective, as Brewdog.  However, they have won some awards, and have made tremendous progress in 2.5+ years.

If you can't tell by now, I really miss the nights when I was the lone employee working, and I had a bar full of customers – wild nights.

Thanks again for sharing your experience at Brewdog; it takes me back.  I think I need a beer now.

So, next in line was the MALHEUR "EXTRA BRUT"… As per the name, it's a more sec (dry) version of the Brut... Out of all the ones I tried (Royal, Dark Brut, Brut, Extra Brut), I prefer the Brut by far... If you're into dry blond beers, get the Extra Brut... If you want a bit more sweetness, go for the Brut...

Still in my fridge: the Malheur 12° (standard bottle)...  🙂

There's a beverage store a few towns over that carries it I think. Might go on a quest soon. Will report back!
